Cyclamates were banned in 1970. One study a few years after the ban indicated that a person would need to consume around 800 soft drinks PER DAY to get cyclamate-caused cancer.

Given enough time, MONEY, and research, nearly everything that is 'bad' today will be deemed 'okay' later. Eggs, milk, coffee, bacon, meat fats, yada yada yada.

Remember that. They were the only diet soda I could stand to drink, and IIRC, the dosage level to cause cancer was like you or I drinking a 55-gallon drum of the stuff a day. I was drinking a case of Coke a day back then, but it wasn’t THAT bad.
