Haha - that’s a religious site! Had a good friend who played that club with the Boogie Kings in that general era. One of their albums was recorded there.

I bought this in a three album boxed set that included The Band, Music From Big pink and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

I found this instrumental to be very engaging for whatever reason.

Where are the new jazz artists coming from? Try BARCELONA, SPAIN! Something must be in the water there~

I first saw THE SANT ANDREU JAZZ BAND videos probably about 2 years ago now...This band, under the direction of Joan Chamorro; simply blew me away~ They were “spot on” in playing these new arrangements of songs from the Great American Songbook...so professionally...the vocal artists especially were so GOOD..

Dr.Joan Chamorro (PHD in Pedagogy of Music Education) has done a remarkable job..a musical genius!~..he started the band in 2006, when a lot of these kids were maybe 8 to 11 years old; the average age of the kids in this band is 15 years old, then they age out of the band at 21.

There are over 500 videos on youtube that show how well these kids have developed their skills over the years..most of them are LIVE in performance. (Kudos to David Catsamitjana, who mikes and records these live videos) Warning! These music videos are ADDICTIVE!

Today, those original kids are now performing in Jazz festivals and concerts all over the world..(thinking here of Andrea Motis, Eva Fernandez, the great RITA PAYES, and Magali Datzira...there are others as well, but these girls are exceptional in every way~!)

All of their albums (with the band and SOLO albums too) can be found on Spotify, Pandora, bandcamp..so anyone can listen to them free ~ of course, they’ll also let’cha buy ‘em too at www.jazztojazz.com . There is also a “FRIENDS OF THE SANT ANDREU JAZZ BAND in ENGLISH” page on facebook, it was started about 2 months ago, it now has over 2000 members. I first went nutz over Andrea Motis, then, of course, Eva Fernandez. Joan has done something great here, and Barcelona has the benefit although they have performed all over.

Yes, I realize that you’ve known about the SAJB for quite some time..BUT I also know that the many people who read these threads have not...so; my post was primarily aimed at them, rather than you. :>)

Also, I agree wholeheartedly, Andrea is truly talented..BUT Eva ! Whoa! She has a great vocal jazz style, she’s also great on Sax. Totally agree!

Almost all of the kids (Andrea, Carla, Eva, Magali, and RITA..and the others) who have grown up with the SAJB, have now “aged” out of the Band.. tsk..

But. wouldn’t it be wonderful if Joan Chamorro could get all of them back together for a tour of the States ? Call it “The Premiere Sant Andreu Jazz Band”.. then tour through LA, Dallas, Chicago, and New Yorak.. Yowza! That’d be terrific !

Well.. just a thought. a GOOD thought.. Hopefully, this virus nonsense will be done soon, so they can get together again for concerts, then we will have more videos to see on Youtube! Yes!~ :>)

One of the real blessings of the Internet is that these magnificent performances are frozen in time and infinitely replayable. This is not a small thing. Many of our very favorite performers and performances are sullied with the passage of time, the changes in priorities, the changes in style and delivery, and personal failings. Although not a fan, I offer Michael Jackson up as an example. My personal favorite of this would be a star whose work has, in my opinion, deteriorated significantly over time.
