Autobahn was such a big album when it came out where I was at. There were a lot of kids who had just moved from Germany around, so we were exposed to it earlier than most in the US.

Loved Kraftwerk back in my high school daze. Still have two of their albums.

Wow, three days after Stranglers keyboard player Dave Greenfield, too.
Kraftwerks early song
Ruckzuck was used as the opening music on the PBS kids science show Newtons Apple.

Probably my favorite band. I remember being right out of high school and hearing this absolutely crazy song on the radio while driving along. The song was Showroom Dummies and I immediately went out and bought the album (Trans-Europe Express).
What a magnificent record! And what a magnificent opening song: Europe Endless.
All these decades later, I still get out the old Kraftwerk records. Always a treat.

Autobahn was a game changer.

I think the group DEVO was meant as a parody version of Kraftwerk. There was room for both back then.
Who can forget one of their biggest hits “Whip It!”

Well, I am glad that “Numbers” didn’t make the list. That was painful to listen to. I rather liked the B-side of one of the singles, “Computer Love”.

Just checked them out on YT. “We Are the Robots”. Very weird, creepy electro-nazis. Like the back up band for “Metropolis” in case the beautiful, original score by Huppertz wasn’t available.

Truly an underrated band in the US. One of my favorites. I even considered using the name Florian for one of my children. My husband, who is an even bigger fan, soundly vetoed that idea. Good call. 😂

David Bowie gave tribute, in the song “V-2 Schneider”, off of “Station to Station”.
