I worked with Colonel Robert Jackson during the early 1980s at General Dynamics-Fort Worth during the early to mid 1980s. He flew the slot position for the Thunderbirds during the 1960s. He used to joke about when driving in traffic, he always had to fight the tendency to stay right under the bumper of the car in front of him.

He was recently retired from the USAF during those years and I found out years later when the details were declassified that he personally interviewed, selected, and trained the original pilots for the Stealth Fight F-117.
