I didn't realize unconditional love meant deciding to enable your child to do all manner and sort of horrible things to themselves. Be it drugs, alcohol, sexual debauchery, surgical mutilation to their sex organs, jumping off a cliff, robbing a bank, et al. Real and true unconditional love is telling your child "NO" where they seek to do harm to themselves.

Sorry, but no matter how much they try, their son will never become a girl. He may well want to be a girl, and he may pretend to be a girl, but he won’t be a girl ever. No matter what surgery he has, what clothes he wears, what hormones he takes, he will never become a woman either. Every cell in his body will mark him as male, and should his body be discovered by future anthropologists, they will rightly identify it as male.

That’s just how it is.
