More than 900 Missouri residents who "snitched" on St. Louis County businesses for violating the coronavirus lockdowns in March and April fear retaliation after their private information was published on social media.
The county had encouraged residents to report businesses that were not adhering to the state's lockdown guidelines. Although many people had asked for their communications to remain anonymous, the terms and conditions included in the online report said that information may be shared publicly.
The names and addresses of approximately 900 residents were published online and then shared by a man named Jared Totsch in a Facebook group with the following caption: "Here ya go. The gallery of snitches, busybodies, and employees who rat out their own neighbors and employers over the Panic-demic."
Residents whose information was shared online fear retaliation from businesses they reported.
"I'm not only worried about COVID, I'm worried about someone showing up at my door, showing up at my workplace, or me getting fired for doing what is right," one tipster said.
Totsch wrote that those who were worried about retaliation should have read the terms and conditions more closely.
"If they are worried about retaliation, they should have read the fine print which stated their tips would be open public record... and should not have submitted tips in that manner to begin with," Totsch wrote. "I released the info in an attempt to discourage such behavior in the future."
The complaints resulted in 29 businesses receiving citations during April.
these people are scum.
Awwww....brownshirts get a taste of their own poison.
I wanted to read the comments on the site but you can’t unless you subscribe.
The post 9/11 “see something say something” mantra sowed the seeds for this.
They should be prosecuted - they conspired to deprive others of their Constitutional rights - 3 years in prison each.
If I employed any of these people, I would fire them and then bar them from my business for life. I hope the people who employ them do just that and the businesses upon whom they snitched who do not employ them ban them for life.
I also hope the people of Saint Louis County recognize that many of their elected officials are Nazis and send them to the unemployment line at the next opportunity.
One of the first thing you learn in life is nobody likes a tattletale. You learn it even before you attend your first day of school.
I thought the rest of that saying was,
“See something, say something, be ignored or accused of being RACIST!”
Did I learn sometime long ago that we have a right to confront our accusers?
Proving there are Americans who will blindly follow their governments commands and give up their freedoms and friends, family and neighbors for a scrap of security. I have family friends who shocked me with their blinding devotion to king Andy jr. In KY. Their worship and noses are 5 miles up his ass. They hang on his every simpleton spoken word and will lecture you on how ignorant and stupid you are for daring to question their saaaaavior! These people deserve neither freedom or security only contempt.
OOops.
I know nutzing!
“In” before the fearpers show up announcing how they too would snitch, and lament the plight of their fellow snitches.
Sucks to be them.

It’s the law, get over it
...The Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him.” Generally, the right is to have a face-to-face confrontation with witnesses who are offering testimonial evidence against the accused in the form of cross-examination during a trial. The Fourteenth Amendment makes the right to confrontation applicable to the states and not just the federal government

Oh suuuure- blame your inability to read on a subscription-— lol j/k :)
I’m sure the comments were doozeys- hope someone can post some here- should be entertaining-
I'm in Missouri, just 60 miles out of St. Louis, where all this took place, as a matter of fact and it's been a hot topic since the list was released. Jamie Allman, former Investigative reporter and radio commentator requested the list through the sunshine laws on the books. The local & national press have made every attempt to make this disclosure look 'illegal' and 'nefarious', by using the word 'leaked' and many dupes now believe that to be the case.
These people are nimrods for believing they could rat out neighbors and employers and not be found out. It clearly stated on the form that their names 'could' become public but they were so busy be Gladys Cravitz, they didn't notice that.
Like I said, I hope their fears are realized.
After East Germany ended they found out almost half the population were informing on the rest.
They ought to fear retaliation.
