Carnival Cruise Line announced it plans to resume some North American sailings starting Aug. 1.

The return to service will take a "phased-in approach," according to the company, focusing on eight ships from three homeports in Texas and Florida. Carnival also said any resumption of cruise operations "is fully dependent" on cooperation with federal, state, local and international government officials.

Unless I have evidence I have COVID19 antibodies no way I am getting on a plague ship.

I’m not a scaredy baby, but there is no way I’d get on a cruise ship anytime soon.

Folks and I crossed the Pacific from Seattle to Yokohama and back six times on MSTS ships. Last trip back was into Oakland, CA...

Much as I’ve never been on a cruise and sure would love to go on one, that’s likely something that’s never going to happen.

I can’t go anyway because of my dogs, so it’s really moot.

I wish them luck, but I wont be getting on a cruise ship again in this lifetime, now that I know they can inprison you there.

COVID is nothing much, but that Norovirus often found on cruise ships is a killer!

I have never wanted to get on a cruise ship. They do not appeal to me in any way.

Look on the bright side. You only have to pay for the first week. Then the next 11 months are free and they will carry you off the ship.

I have no interest to go on a cruise, but I have been in an airplane tube for 17 hours. I think that being on a large ship would be more healthy, except for food prep. On an airplane everything is pre-made.

“now that I know they can inprison you there.”

Having taken a few cruises (enjoyed every one with no negative experiences to speak of) I soon realized something most people don’t, once your on the boat and at sea you ain’t in the U.S. any more. Right down to many crew not speaking English. Although one would hope those ships now “should be” more sanitary than ever.....one would hope.

We brought our dog home to the US on our last trip in ‘61.
She spent most of the trip in a cage on the fantail of the USS General W, A. Mann.

Unless they are paying people to take cruises or at least giving them away, I wouldn’t expect too many to be sailing with them anytime soon.

A couple cruises ago we took in a comedy show one night. Commenting on the size of the cabins the comedian said he had slipped and fell in the shower...fortunately he landed on the bed.. Lol

Ironically that was the cruise we were upgraded to a balcony suite cabin. Had a king bed, coffee table, small couch and chair. Bathroom had a double sink with full size whirlpool jet tub. So they’re not all phone booths.....just sayin’

I’d be more worried about Norwalk. But since the cruise lines are so paranoid about hygiene right now, this might be a good time to go if you want to do it.

I wouldn’t, but I’m a big germaphobe.

Hopefully they give all boarders HCQ and zinc.
