This new talking point on the Vietnam War is being used to go after Trump in way for his non-service in that war. At least that is my opinion.

Proving that Liberals understand war as well as they understand medicine.

Vietnam is seen as a screwed up affair....the Left is attempting to link Trump’s handling of the chinavirus as badly as we handled Vietnam.

They have tried to make this “Trump’s Hurricane Katrina.” That didn’t stick so now they are trying to make it “Trump’s VietNam.” I doubt this will stick either. Reason? The target audience is already convinced Trump is awful, so their demagoguery will not effect any change in the rest of us who see tbhrough this swill and disregard it..

I respond that the Hong Kong flu (1968) killed more than the war.

A huge chunk of the American populace has no memory of Vietnam. Most of the deaths would have been young soldiers. The virus has mostly been killing the almost dead.

For sure it is an attempt to smear Trump with our defeat in Vietnam. But it is still pretty stupid. Also comparing deaths from a contagious disease to deaths from cancer, or accidents, or yes war. Even AIDS, which is contagious but not very easily.

Not that I take most anything put out by the U.N. at face value, but the U.N. is predicting in the range of 130,000,000 people in less developed countries will soon face famine to the “brink of starvation” resulting from the lockdown of the West. Let’s see how the Left will reconcile these numbers. Of course, everything will be blaned on the virus — as the U.N. is already doing — rather than hold to account the politicians who are directly responsible for the lockdown of the West.

It’s an apt comparison because both were caused by China.

How do annual flu deaths compare to the Vietnam toll?

Yes, let us please equate 18 year olds being drafted from their homes, sent to a meaningless war, and killed in the prime of their lives with 80 year olds living in a nursing home with underlying compromising medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

Wouldn’t that be racist since both were caused by orientals?

I in 10 of the 2,709,918 men who served in Vietnam became a casualty, either KIA, MIA, or WIA. If you break that rate down to units actually and continuously at the sharp end engaging the enemy, then that figure is far higher. I was a tank commander in Vietnam. The death rate among armored vehicle crewmen (enlisted men with MOS 11E10, 11E20, 11E40, and Officers with MOS 1203) killed in the Republic of Vietnam is 27% of the total of 2,720 men with that MOS who served. This amounts to a DEATH RATE for that MOS of 27%, and even though FAR MORE 11B (Infantry) were killed, the death RATE for infantry is much lower.

To try to compare a nation of 330,000,000 or so dying from an opportunistic virus that cannot even be seen with the death toll in Vietnam is utterly disingenuous. A damnable lie, actually.

1 in 10 Americans are NOT infected with the coronavirus.

It makes you realize just how pathetic the lefts continuous whining over the Vietnam war was during that era. Their politically motivated protest were essentially a ruse in an attempt to unseat Nixon. Instead, he won by one of the biggest vote majorities in 1972. Then they removed him with embarrassment... Thanks to a few misguided RINO’s who thought he would destroy the Republican party.

Democrats are hypocrites.. Always have been, always will be. That’s why their symbol is a Jackass.
