“Bess Kalb @bessbell He had a patient who needed 8 blood transfusions in a morning even though he wasnt bleeding. The coronavirus was just eating his red blood cells faster than his bone marrow could make them. Its mystifying and brutal.”
This is why I keep saying look at thalessemia and sickle cell and malaria to try to find an answer as to how to deal with this. Thalessemia Major requires blood transfusions but that is rarer than Thalessemia minor who just have crappy blood oxygen and all kinds of problems with Medcrams buzzwords...NAPH, GPH, , ROS, SOD,
Many Drs just dont understand thalessemia. I am usually told to take iron..which is exactly what you dont want to to.
Those crazy ferritin numbers that patients are getting is another clue
comment from story:
So why is all of this happening? It may be happening because the virus is taking out ACE2 because it is binding to ACE2 as it binds it maybe taking it out because as it binds to ACE 2 it’s now rendering that enzyme inactive. When ACE2 is down regulated, it can no longer mitigate the effects of angiotensin2 and specifically oxidative stress on the endothilium.ACE2-based treatment approaches may be a novel approach to limit aberrant vascular responses and atherothrombosis.
