BTTT!!!
I’m a raspberry lover, so I bought a raspberry plant from Lowes this morning. What’s the best fertilizer for this fellow before planting. I have both bags of compost and holly tone fertilizer.
Thank you.
Toms started from seed 3-6 weeks ago are slowly growing but I have no place to plant them yet here in MA. Almost freezing temps yet predicted, which are about 10 degrees colder than last year at this time. But thank God for what we have. Better than up North for warmth.

Plants from seed, waiting to plant in about 2 weeks, glory to God:
This thread is non-political respite.
That is what I like here
Hi Diana,
Did not realize how much work can go into gardening.
Tomatoes were planted 2 weeks ago in raised bed. Tried but failed to grow chile peppers from seed. I think the egg carton was too small. One day I forgot to water. Oh well. Planted new ones Friday in the cartons that the petunia’s come in covered it in plastic wrap. We will see. Bought 6 strawberry plants. They are fine now, but they hate the Texas heat. Same with the blueberries. I am exhausted.
Things have been going gangbusters here. My chives are in full bloom. Using the pretty purple Pom poms to garnish omlettes and Gibson cocktails, and I have some steeping for chive vinegar.
I tried the kitchen scrap thing with a head of Boston lettuce. I have a nice four inch plant going. I have room for one more in that container, so in a few weeks I might not need to buy lettuce anymore. I seeded arugula there and should be ready for the first harvest this week.
I counted 25 buds on the lavender plant and should be able to harvest those in about 10 days.
The mint has finally returned. My thyme plants and sage look great. Surprised at how well the tarragon is doing.
My only mishap has been transplanting some lemon verbena from the kitchen windowsill to the outdoor containers. Its showing some signs of life still, but may need to be replaced.
Glad you’re okay.
:)
YAY!!
24x4’ raised bed is 75% finished. Have to put the sides on tomorrow with the repurposed cedar fence planks. The frame is entirely scrap wood....spare lumber I never tossed out.
I have one more this size and a 16x4’ bed to build. Those will be 2x10’ lumber on the sides because I will be all out of cedar boards.
Attempting to start sweet potatoes and red potoes in growing bags. I ordered the darn bags almost 3 months ago and they just showed up! Let’s see how this goes.
My order of Heorloom 55 seeds arrived 2 days ago and my wife thinks I am cheating on her because I have had it next to me in my recliner for the last 2 days.
Unusually beautiful spring weather here in north western California. We did have one day of rain and then it cleared up plus warmer temps then normal. Lady Benders flowering sweetpea seeds have sprouted plus her tomato seeds in the green house. I still have not figured out what my old password for my Fotki account. I could just do a new account but I had a lot of photos in the old one...

Had some damping off issues in the greenhouse.
I was overwatering, doing some evening watering, and that was a bad mix for a greenhouse with a space heater in it.
Lost som San Marzano Toms, heirloom cute, and a few other starts.
Not every start of each variety so I still have a garden to plant. Will be restarting some of these varieties again.
Mostly nice weather over the past week here in Central Missouri.
Mrs. Augie and I stopped by the local nursery on Thursday. It was packed, and picked-over. I brought home 20 tomato plants and one rhubarb for the garden. Mrs. Augie picked up a few potherbs, and a couple ornamentals for her flower bed in front of the house.
It’s just a bit early to put tomatoes in the ground here, so I re-potted them into gallon containers. They should have plenty of roots out when it’s time to stick them in the dirt. I picked a spot for the rhubarb and in it went. Sowed two rows of kale, and one row each of beets, collards, carrots, chard, and radishes.
Mrs. Augie planted several varieties of squash seed, and I set up two cattle panels for her cucumber fence. Thought I might get the cuke seeds planted today, but it’s raining so that will have to wait.
Still need to buy some pepper plants. Might try to get that done after work today.
Gardening By The Moon:

I almost finished the 24x4 foot garden bed today... damn grip gave out from driving decking screws into a series of plastic/composite 2x4s.
Fingers started cramping up. I have 40 more 10”x 5.25” cedar slats to screw to the 2x4s which makes up the sides of the raised bed.
At one point I was so tired, I thought about moving some of the garden soil aside, layig down in the hole and dragging the soil back over me with my hands.
But then I remembered I had a single iced cold beer (can of Bohdizafa) in my fridge and I found the will to go on.
Tomorrow is my Bday and I will be 52.
I wiah my parents were alive to call me and say Happy Birthday....:(
