A species of Asian "murder hornets" has appeared in the U.S. as researchers search for ways to eradicate the vicious insects before populations grow.
The hornets were discovered near Custer, Wash., last November when beekeeper Ted McFall found carcasses of his bees with decapitated heads, according to an interview with The New York Times.
McFall told the Times that he could not imagine what could have killed his bees, later discovering that it was the result of a murder hornet attack.
The Asian hornets are reportedly enormous, with queens growing as long as two inches.

We’re gonna need a bigger bug zapper...
In the West Coast states, there are ‘meat bees’.
To get rid of them:
Take a 5 gallon pain, fill 1/2 way up with water. Put liquid soap like Dawn on top of water in pail.
Tie a chunk of liver on strong string over the water-—but just off the water level-—tie it from one side of pail to other.
Bees go for the liver-—get so full then they try to fly away. They cannot go UP quickly enough, and make a ‘swoop’ down, then try to go up.
They hit the water with soap film & cannot fly anymore at all. They drown in the water.
Went camping near Likely Calif years go. Had 2 such pails around camp with 7 horses & riders. Were there for 3 1/2 days.
Emptied & refilled 2 pails each day...first day twice.
Cheap & easy.
Look into colony collapse disorder
Do this at night cause they can’t see.
Stuff a section of garden hose in the opening.
Pour in a 1/4 cup of gas.

For me, they still do ... 55 years later, I still occasionally have nightmares.
LOL, I think it’s only fair for him to do a head-to-head comparison: letting an executioner wasp sting him in one arm while a murder hornet stings him in the other. There’s no other way to tell which is really worse. ;-)
Cobalt 60 sources.
You are not alone.
How the heck did they GET here? Supposedly U.S. Customs inspects agricultural and animal-origin products at airports.
Read James Rollins' "The Demon Crown".
Happy Dreams!
Nope.
And if you dust your hives for Varona Mites your chances of CCD go way down.
And all you need is a few egg to get through on a pallet and vola!
