I have been hand-sewing lace onto netting for my daughter’s bridal veil. Wedding has now been postponed (was 5/23). I still need to shorten her dress, which will involve a lot of handwork. The BRIGHT SIDE: While my sewing machine stayed at her house for several weeks, she got to experimenting with it, and BOUGHT ONE for herself! I got mine back today, and am excited that she now has the bug.
My husband had a severe health crisis (not COVID-19) 3 weeks ago, so life has been in even more turmoil since then, but he’s recovering now, and hopefully will be home in a couple more weeks. I might try to squeeze in a sewing project (just a top for myself?) while he’s away, because it is therapeutic for me, but working full-time, keeping up the yard work, and visiting him is making time hard to come by (and I really need to finish the veil, before staring anything new).
Thanks for this thread, Diana.
So sorry to hear about Hubby. Glad he’s on the mend.
You planted the Sewing Seed, Mom! My own Mother wishes I could sew something besides a pair of STRAIGHT curtains, a pillow case or a table runner, LOL!
I guess I’ve always looked at it in that it’s not worth competing with The Master when it comes to sewing. She’s so good - she’s legendary in her local theater circles for her costume designs.
Best of luck with your projects and wishing a speedy recovery for your Hubby.
