Michigan has the third highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country, and were still on the upswing. We must continue to do everything we can to slow the spread and protect our families, said Michigan Gov. Whitmer.

Will there or will there not be a recall? Nothing else matters.
Slow the spread = drag this out. Until November. Then, if Trump wins, drag it out more. If Biden wins, declare victory over coronavirus.
April 9 data per linked article. Kinda stale...
Yep, it's becoming obvious this has been the plan, and they even tricked Trump into assisting with in his own political destruction.
This at least needs to be county by county. It is interesting: Genessee County (Flint) has/had 1.5k cases. While Kent County (Grand Rapids) had/has 1.3k cases. Deaths in Genessee County-180. Deaths in Kent Coutnt-33. Six times more? Why?
There was an article from a radio personality in MI said Whitmer was holding back prison and nursing home numbers to use later. IMO that us what she is doing. Watch their tactics, people, these are the same ones they use during elections.
The graph tells a different story. Some variability to the data - which is expected in natural phenomenon - but the trend in new cases is down, not up.
A politician that lies. Shocking. /sarc
Number of deaths -- yes, Michigan is indeed #3 as of today (after NY and NJ).
ah...I may have made a mistake then - due to the fact the graphs show data through 4/29. It muddles the text and the facts.
She’s still a tyrant ;p
One of the graphs shows total tests, number of positives, and number of positives as a % of testing.
So even though there’s more testing the actual number of positives is actually going down - if things weren’t getting better more tests should correlate with more positive tests.
Something funny going on... a 5% mortality rate...?
Notice that only new cases and total deaths are reported. No one ever recovers from this virus. If the virus lasts two weeks, then everyone infected in February and March have either recovered or died. We never hear about how meany are currently sick.
I’ve noticed the same. At the link there’s a graph lower down that has “Total reported recoveries”, along with “Total positive cases” and “Total deaths”. It makes no sense whatsoever. Recoveries just don’t seem to be getting reported. I suppose it might be because people test positive but don’t have symptoms severe enough to be hospitalized, so they go home and recover - but there’s no follow up.
I suppose you can just “assume” positive tests minus deaths equals “recoveries”...but there’s no formal data being tracked.
Note on recovery: During this response, MDHHS is reviewing vital records statistics to identify any laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset of illness to represent recovery status. As the pandemic continues to impact Michigan, this pool will expand to include more cases. Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). The number of persons recovered on April 24, 2020 represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals with an onset date on or prior to March 25, 2020. If an individual dies from a COVID-related cause >30 days from onset/referral, they are removed from the number of persons recovered. These numbers will be updated every Saturday.
Good, bad, or fictitious, this is how MI is measuring recoveries.
Lots of happy Democrats out there.
