A lot of “surprise” pregnancies (sigh ...) occur when young people are “in exclusive relationships,” as they put it. Often the couple have some thought that they might stay together long-term or even get married “someday,” but they don’t have the maturity to consider thinking things through and developing an actual plan for life.

Thank you. What I meant, was I didn’t even think of (nor did I see in the article any mention of) the stresses of job loss and/or COVID19 taking out elders who were expected to help care for the babies. And just to be clear, while I totally understand preexisting cohabitation arrangements can lead to baby-making (in fact, I expect a surge of CoronaBabies come Thanksgiving), my point was there should be SOME lowering of unwanted pregnancies to the extent bars etc are shut down.
