Maybe the Packers play too well and draft too late in the first round to pick a receiver. The real first-rounder WR’s are usually gone within the top 10 picks. You have to have had a sh*tty year to draft in the top 10

As a long-suffering Lions fan, I wish the team had “failed” Matt Stafford in similar fashion.

I'm also of the opinion that WR is the most overrated position on the football field. You can win Super Bowls with a marginal WR corps as long as the other elements of your offense are in good shape -- especially the offensive line.
A good offensive line can turn an average running back into an All-Pro.
A good offensive line can also give an average NFL quarterback plenty of time to throw the ball downfield.
And and average NFL quarterback with plenty of time to throw the ball can work with any group of half-decent receivers to develop a dominant passing game.
I'll offer Eli Manning as a perfect illustration of how this works.

Not this year. There was a bumper crop of WRs. CeeDee Lamb was available to the Cowboys at pick #18. Players like Denzel Mims who might have been first rounders in other years dropped to the late second round (#27, Jets). Arizona got themselves a top tier WR (DeAndre Hopkins) for a high 2nd rounder and a beat-up, overpaid fullback. Now part of the problem is that Aaron Rogers got paid Super-super-big $$$ when other QBs were just getting Super-big dollars, and that put a crimp on GB's spending. Brady gave a home team discount, allowing the Patriots to give him tools if they chose to. Lately they hadn't really chosen to, so he left town.
