There is no one to call, who can check on it. The website is useless. Government......

Dear ex-pat:

You do not deserve a check. Y’all left, and am not in a position to support ANY CONUS-based businesses, on the morrow.

All you could support is online, and is not in the same league.

I live in the Philippines. Got notice from NFCU that the PPP$ will be available on 29 Apr. for the wife’s account. My account with a different bank will probably be credited tomorrow. Both of us are on SS and I have military retirement. We don’t make enough to file taxes and haven’t filed for 8 years. So hang in there. You should see it soon.

I live in the US and have not received it.

Living on a VA disability (100% certified) and on SS as I'm also retired and I too have not received it either. Some are now saying maybe the 29th (tomorrow).

“”I’m assuming that government will cross reference records so the folks with IRS income above the legislative limit will be screened from receiving a stimulus payment solely because of receipt of SS benefits via direct deposit.””

You’d think that would be so, wouldn’t you? HOWEVER!!!!!

Of the friends I’ve checked with no Stimulus money has been paid the same way and some not at all. We received our $2400 BY PAPER CHECK last week and while I EXPECTED it would be deposited along with our SS benefits, that wasn’t the case.

It was the case for a friend and his wife - two DIRECT deposits on two benefit payment days. Another got a PAPER CHECK. One got a DIRECT DEPOSIT immediately at the beginning of the month WITH the SS benefit.

Friends in WA and other states haven’t received anything - some have filed tax returns and others have not. The requirement that those who do not file tax returns was reversed and that shouldn’t make any difference now.

This is how an old school friend (and I do mean OLD) explained it to me in an email:

“”Whether you get a paper check or Direct Deposit all depends on how you had it set up to take care of any income tax refund. If you didn’t get a refund, you get a paper check, If you did get a refund, but had a check sent to you, you get a paper check. If you got a refund and had it set up for Direct Deposit, that’s how your Stimulus money will arrive- Direct Depost.””

Wouldn’t you just love to meet the people behind the scenes who pull the strings - the unseen hands/faces who make all the rules? I sure would...

“”COMMON SENSE would dictate that those who receive SS checks due to retirement are NOT out of work due to the panda-mike (pandemic). There is no reason to give them a check. It’s not going to help them ‘get back to work’.””

My husband and I both receive SS benefits and I’ve been of the same opinion as you since this shebang began. There have been several threads here on the subject and hardly anyone agreed with me. We are not out of work, we are not looking for work, we are not unemployed, we are using the same $$$ we always have to pay our bills and buy food...so our children/grandchildren/great grandchildren are going to pay the bills and people think that’s ok?

Like I just said in another post - I’d like to see those faceless people who make up these rules.. Common sense does not exist!

I was told by a FReeper that we are supposed to spend the $$ - that’s what stimulus means - stimulate the economy...well, sorry - but I put it in the bank! I guess we should spend like our government spends - RECKLESSLY - spend it on something just for the sake of spending it? Too late for old codgers to even think of such a thing!

Common sense would dictate that those who lost their jobs qualify for unemployment insurance and food stamps and should not receive a stimulus check, according to your reasoning.

ping and no stim check yet. Going to go pro-active, on line. Before the great White Fathers in Washingtoon run out of stim cash. Or the Chinamen stop lending it to them.

Typical FReeper - I’ve never seen one yet who doesn’t turn a well thought out statement around to their own advantage.

Spend some time finding out what “retired” means vs “being unemployed.”

You take a lot for granted in assuming that I support any of the stimulus
package. We have sold our rights for $1200. 26 million forced out of work, panic buying creating shortages, we are 2 to 4 weeks from a shortage beef, pork and poultry, small businesses will never recover all because of a questionable mandatory shutdown.

We have added trillions to our debt and the career pols want to print more money. Wait until inflation hits and we have a run on the banks.

I stand by my statement that we already have unemployment insurance and other benefits in place for those who were forced out of work.

My parents draw SS retirement and still haven’t received theirs, that being said my wife and I haven’t got ours either. My daughters fiancé was laid off at the end of March and just got his first unemployment check yesterday. If anything this virus has shown how ineffective and useless government bureaucrats are!

I live in Panama but bank and file taxes in the U.S. My refund and stimulus checks have already reached my bank account thanks to direct deposit.

...and before anyone complains, I redirected part of my check to a Christian food bank ministry in San Antonio so I am doing something about helping without living there.

Been on SS since 2006 and filed taxes in 2018 and 2019.

Received my check on 4/15, the third Wed of the month. Rec’d SS check that same day (normal).
