President Donald Trump’s suggestion that doctors look into injecting disinfectant as a potential coronavirus treatment went unchallenged on Fox News Channel until the morning after he made it.
Trump said during Thursday’s briefing that “it would be interesting to check” if an injection of disinfectants could help. That prompted the makers of Lysol to warn consumers about the danger of ingesting or injecting the cleaning product into their bodies.
Trump said Friday that he was being sarcastic.
Meanwhile, The New York Times on Friday deleted a tweet that implied only “some experts” viewed it as dangerous, saying “to be clear, there is no debate on the danger.”
Fox’s response drew scrutiny because the most-watched cable news network is also the overwhelming favorite of Trump supporters. …

Perhaps the editors at AP need to hone their language skills. Saying to researchers that “it would be interesting to check” if “injections of disinfectant would help” does not mean the same thing as “let’s start drinking Lysol”.
If it did, could the call to “investigate new vaccines” be an irresponsible lure for amateur Jonas Salks to experiment by injecting viruses into themselves?
Or could the call for social distancing to be interpreted by some dimwitted governors and mayors as a mandate to arrest people for sitting alone on a beach? Well, maybe that.

In a broad, and not incorrect sense, antibiotics and antivirals are “disinfectants” in that they free the body of infection by killing or inactivating viruses and germs.

The disinfectant President Trump was talking about was the actual UV light! It is was used in the past and forgotten. Injected, via a transfusion of UV treated blood. It was successful on many types of pathogens...He was correct and probably knows about its use!

The way I heard it from what Trump said is to illuminate the body from within as well. At that instant he was talking about light, not disinfectant.

That is actually a brilliant idea. If instead of an optical probe a small UV lightbulbulb or LED is intoduced in the lungs through the esophagus, it could kill the virus where it does the most damage.
