I didn't need it and decided to do some good with it.
I made a mortgage payment for my favorite waitress at the local diner.
She saved her tips for 27 years. Paid her bills with her tips and then, last year, bought her first house. With her tips.
The rest went to my church.

In todays mail was my boyfriends stimulus check. He died in the beginning of March. Whats even more puzzling is that the name on the check was that of his deceased wife who died 20+ years ago. I passed it on to their daughter who is the executor of estate. She will probably use it to cover final expenses.

Still waiting for mine. IRS says eligible but waiting to give date to send mine. All because I had to pay money this year and provide bank account number to receive the check. Been a week now. Still no date message change.

Still waiting for mine. But when it finally does arrive, I will temporarily bump up my 401(k) contributions.

I will not be getting one for reasons I will not disclose, but I am far better off not getting one.

All I know is, my wife and I each got a Willy Wonka gold gummint cheese ticket. But when she had our taxes done through Credit Karma, she had the option of direct deposit, or getting an Amex account and debit card, and that's what she went for, so that's where the money went. I have no access to it (she was afraid I might go out and buy a used boat or something). Rainy day fund, I guess. As far as I can say, it's not anything that weighs on my mind, because I'll probably never directly see it. I'm pretty sure she'll tithe quite generously next month. The pastor is probably already smiling.
She's lucky, though. Down here where we live, boats are in every other yard and as cheap as a used car, and $2400 would have gone a long way to buying a small, inspection-ready bowrider or pontoon boat. And I'm jonesing for a new puddle jumper.

Sent the entire amount (and then some, slightly) back to the governmental black hole with our tax return.
Ill sleep well, though, knowing I did my part to keep the Kennedy Center and NPR functional.
