President Donald Trump said Friday that his remarks on injecting disinfectants to treat COVID-19 were sarcasm, after doctors responded with horror and disinfectant manufacturers urged people not to ingest the poisonous substances.
"I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters just like you, just to see what would happen," Trump said on Friday during a bill signing for the coronavirus aid package. "I was asking a sarcastic and a very sarcastic question to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside. But it does kill it and it would kill it on the hands, and it would make things much better."
But the president's comments the day before a lengthy musing that disinfectant or powerful light could be used to fight the virus did not appear to be sarcasm; they were in part directed at a Homeland Security official.

Trump really screws up when he opens his mouth sometimes.
The fainting couch is in the ladies room.
Thanks - but I’m fine standing right here, miss.
Much ado about nothing.
I watched the video of this today. Can’t get worked up about it.
Maybe Trump should admit it was a poor choice of words and doesn’t want anybody to even think about ingesting it. But the media should really be focusing on much bigger issues.
Agreed. Unfortunately, this topic will be the highlight of the presser today. And we're gonna have to hear about it all over again. All for a poor stupid choice of words.
Trump has a deadpan delivery, sometimes he rambles and it may be hard to tell what he means. But it's easy to understand the Enemedia's intentions: to deceive the public no matter what he or his allies say.

I saw nothing wrong with what he said, unlike a very few easily “cringy faced” Freepers. The screw up was that he said it was “sarcasm”.
Nobody really cares. Get a life, people.
I take my comment back; I was just now duped by the media and did not read POTUS actual quote. Sorry, Mr. Preesident.
"I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters just like you, just to see what would happen," Trump said
Trump NEVER said ‘inject yourself with bleach’. What the media is saying is a lie. He was just asking a question that frankly isn’t really that bad when you think about it.
Thats all you need to point out. No need to backtrack like this. No need for his defenders to looking desperate coming up with examples of weird existing therapies
If he screwed up its through this backtracking.
He clarified his remarks shortly after he had made them. But I prefer to move forward. It's pointless to obsess over words, nuances, intentions, and their misinterpretations.
Bottom line: only morons will try to inject themselves with Lysol or isopropyl alcohol. BTW, there were many deaths in Iran weeks ago, from people drinking methanol. I think Americans are a bit smarter than that. For those who aren't, think of it as evolution in action.
Give the media an inch and they will stretch it out a mile. TDS has no cure, and democrat socialist media are the enemy.

I’m guessing the concerned Freepers, which I am certain you would call me, are concerned with how this plays with voters. Sane people and those with an I.Q. over 4 are voting for Trump. It’s the one’s that can tilt the election that I get ‘cringy’ about when I hear something like this as far as how they will react when coerced by the media.
So unnecessary. What he was talking about is used in current medical practice, correct?
Rush was discussing this today and had someone on in the healthcare field. I only caught it in passing but I think she was referring to whole lung lavage for fluid being used.
And for a light, please see:
“Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device.”

Good grief, the latter was just announce THIS WEEK!
