If someone dares to try to harvest it and sell it, it is a federal felony.
That is weird. I guess that once it’s in the cooler, they can’t tell if it was a licensed harvest, or a poacher, so they outlaw both, but there should be a way.
If they’re worth $30,000 dollars in China, and 3,500 bears are harvested annually in Virginia alone, that’s a street value of over $100 million.
Obviously that would flood the market. No one needs that much, but still...
The ban on selling bear bladders is so that black bears don’t get wiped out. We don’t want to have the population depleted for such a thing.
