Even with the money-driven inflation of COVID-19 deaths, we are just over 40,000 dead.

In 2017 we have over 60,000 dead from the flu.

CDC data for the last decade or so shows flu deaths varying from 12,000 to 61,000. That's a fairly wide range over just a few years. Actually the uncertainty intervals on some of those numbers are as low as 11,000 and as high as 95,000.

The estimate for flu deaths for the 19/20 season is a wide span, from 24,000 to 62,000. Currently deaths attributed to the Chinese virus (I say Chinese just to p**s off any lib lurkers reading this. PC this...) are a little shy of 43,000. We know that a lot of those are not really deaths due to the virus, or even deaths with the virus. Many of those are mere deaths that happened coincidentally and they have no idea if that deceased even had the virus, let alone if it was a contributing or causal factor in their death.

When the dust settles, we're going to see deaths attributed to the Chinese virus pumped up as much as possible. I doubt they're going to be able to hit the entire 62K estimate. Maybe they will. What you'll also see is the deaths attributed to regular flu are going to bottom out. I doubt we'll hit the 24,000 number - most if not all the flu deaths will have been attributed to the Chinese virus. We'll also see (heck, they are seeing now) that deaths due to pneumonia, heart disease, etc. are noticeably down.
