You know I got all of the first 11 right - except the wooden leg in CA one. For some reason that just didn’t compute with me...LOL Well hey, I haven’t had a cup of coffee yet...

8. What was the President's Name in 1975?

Answer is this question we’re asked in 2008 to 2016: Who knows?

I lived in Loo-uh-ville for a year a long time ago and went to hear a band at a small venue who was visiting from some other state.

When the band came on stage, the lead singer said, "It's great to be here in Loo-eee-ville."

The crowd let out a BOO so loud I thought the band would run for their van.

When the BOO died down the crowd yelled in unison (somehow--like they had practiced)..."LOO-UH-VILLE."

It’s good to see that someone found something to do to occupy themselves with during the shut down.

A rooster sits directly on the peak of the roof of a barn. The peak of the roof is ten feet above the edge. The sides of the roof slope down at a 45 degree angle and face due East and due west. The wind is blowing 15 mph from the north. It’s 80 degrees with a relative humidity of 60% and no rain. If it lays an egg, does the egg roll east or west?

The room cost $25 and the bellhop stole $2. That’s $27 paid. Each man paid $9 so it all balances out. There’s no logical reason to add the $27 paid by the men to the $2 they “paid” the bellhop and compare that to the original $30 payment.

Right!

Bellhop: $2
Guests: $3
Hotel: $25

The words are misdirection. But they confuse most people. ;)

Nice. You got me. It was actually a hen identifying as a rooster. There was a large gathering of women, blacks and Hispanics on the west side so the egg naturally rolled west. Per the New York Times headline: “Egg rolls off barn, women and minorities hardest hit”

And Louisville is pronounced “Loo-uh-ville.”

As a former 35 year resident of that fine city, I can tell you the proper native pronunciation is Loo-uh-vul. Some folks just say Loovul.

You are correct of course. I failed on the "vul" focusing all my attention of the "uh."

In my head, though, I was pronouncing "ville" as "vul" because IIRC it is almost always pronounced "vul" everywhere.

And it is a fine city.

” For some reason that just didn’t compute with me...”

I missed it, as well.

I think it was the use of the word, ‘with’ in conjunction with the wooden leg.

If the sentence had used, ‘using’ a wooden leg, then I would have known the answer.

In my little world there is a difference between ‘with’ and ‘using’ when applied to this type of sentence.

Never did too well in grammar.....it seems as if Common Sense was not applied to grammar when it was taught.

LOL
