Draft registration window.

Okay, I get it now. I've never heard the term before.

While it's true, I never had to register for the draft due to my date of birth, that didn't stop me from voluntarily serving my country as these fine men did. I doubt that many of them were draftees, though some may have been.

These brave men VOLUNTEERED to put their lives on the line when they didn't have to. And, as they say, some gave all. The deserve to be honored.

I'll admit to a certain amount of guilt when in their company. They served so you and I could live our lives in safety, comfort, and security.

I take no solace in being a so-called 'window baby'.

That is all.

Yep. Some stepped up and honored their commitment to our country when drafted. And then still, as you say, some volunteered to serve.
Women were allowed to serve in my era (non combat), but I didn’t. Much gratitude to all who did. We have many American veterans of which to be proud. May God bless them and America never forget our debt to those who served and those who are serving now.

"I'll admit to a certain amount of guilt when in their company."

There's plenty of guilt for everybody.
We're all sinners.

I could have volunteered 6 months earlier and been a
Viet Nam Vet.

Like others who have admitted to having served, I have
feelings about being here, alive and whole, when others
are not.

There's always something that other person did more
selflessly, if they are human.

For example, I thank you for the service you performed
with "The Oracle". (And continue to perform in your
inimitable style!) And I thank Ransomnote for enabling
us all!

And Patriots everywhere who dare search for Truth!

Marines were looking for a few good men.
They came and got me.
Why? At the time I was 5 foot nothing and weighed a hundred and nothing...definitely not John Wayne.

FWIW
approx 45k got drafted into the USMC during Vietnam
