Just sharing a disturbing anonymous email that was in my inbox this morning. The email tells me to send $2000 in bitcoin to a bitcoin address or they will send camera porn of me (I dont have a camera) to my friends, coworkers, and relatives.
If you get this same scam you can report it at. https://www.bitcoinabuse.com/

I’d challenge them to go for it....I’d like to see my greying head adobe plastered onto a young virile body not my own.....
I won’t be black mailed for anything!
To: know.your.why
I got that one at least a year ago. I knew it was a scam because I always cover my camera before I got on to porn sites........
But anyways, if the password they displayed is indeed one of the passwords you use, you should immediately change the password wherever you use it.

I got one of those.
The message was comical and at best vague.
It referenced an long done away with password.
Funny the message said pay up or he’d release webcam stuff.
Neat trick. No webcam.

I have gotten this email, or a variation several times in the last two years.
First I laugh myself silly, since I am a woman in my seventies and have never looked at porn of any kind, then I simply delete it and allow the scammer to stew about why so few of his recipients have replied.

Yeah, but people should have any PC/notebook etc cams taped over anyway, just out of basic privacy reasons.
Right. The only thing I own with a webcam is my phone, and I stuck a tiny piece of a label (colored in with black marker) over it. I do this because I saw a photo of Mark Zuckerberg and his camera was taped over. I figure if he does that I should too.

Why can’t you just post the pics here and they will have nothing to hold over your head?

Kim Kommando’s site exposed the scam about a year ago. A lot of websites like yahoo were hacked and had email addresses and usernames (but not passwords) stolen. Cretins who bought the info launch quite a few scams. At least in Gmail, these things usually go to the spam folder.

Thankfully I don’t have this email scam, but I do keep getting emails that are supposedly from banks like, “Chase,” “Bank of America,” etc, telling me I’ve been locked out of my account and need to click a link they send me to re-enter my login information, which I would never do.
The emails have the bank’s logo, but they are mostly blank and are so juvenile in the way they’re worded.
They start out by saying, “Dear ___________________ inserting my email address, and they’re so stupid, they are telling me how to fix a login issue with a bank that I don’t even have an account with!
