Your favorite shows are getting crammed with more and more commercials. New data from Nielsen show that the number of ads per hour of TV programming is at an all-time high.

Commercials comprised 14 minutes and 15 seconds of each hour of TV on broadcast networks in 2013, up from 13 minutes and 25 seconds in 2009, according to Nielsen’s annual Advertising and Audiences report. On cable, commercials are even more frequent, totalling 15 minutes and 38 seconds of each hour.

Everything about current media is pushing a hard core leftist agenda.

It is nothing more or less than Pavlovian conditioning (brainwashing), and for a large segment of the population, it works.

Got free of the idiot box at least a decade ago.

When I realized that there were only one or two programs a week I could abide it was time to unplug.

Every “Comedy” had the same plot, guys are fat and stupid, the wives are slim and sooo much smarter.
Every plot line had to have a percentage of fags and “Minorities”, even if that would have been impossible for the time and place of the story line.

Decided I do not want to be Re-Educated into the desired level of stupid sheep minded PC.

No longer even own a TV and now resent all time previously wasted with them.

the longer the commercial break, the more likely the viewer will FF ahead. Many have DVRs now so either record your programs so you can skip ahead or pause live programming to build a buffer so you can skip commercials.

My TV died 6 months ago. I haven’t replaced it, nor will I.

I did manage to save around $60 per month by cancelling my cable TV with Comcast (Xfinity).

I haven’t missed TV at all. As long as I have my laptop and my Internet connection, the world is my oyster now.

Even when my only TV was NFL years ago, I would DVR and skipp all commercials. Dish network used to have a really neat button that would skip forward in 15 second steps, just right to get past the commercials without overshoot.

No TV at all now, so do not care what they have on.

When I cut cable I used that money to buy DVDs. Now I’ve got a pretty good collection. Abbott and Costello, Coach, Andy Griffith, Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes (with Jeremy Brett).

So the ol TV set still gets some use.

The commercials are a problem but not the main one. The main one is the durned annoying animations that intrude on the bottom of the screen during the shows. These usually advertise other shows and have gotten more blatant and intrusive in the last year. Why aggravate myself?

Now what about the annoyances on FR?

Have run into TV addicts on FR that accuse you of virtue signaling if you state you watch no TV.

Never, ever relate that you never saw Stienfish, or whatever, there are some really touchy ones around about that.

Sixty years ago a Tv show had 10 minutes of advertising for each hour. An hour TV show was 50 minutes long.

Today the hour TV show is 40 minutes with 20 minutes of advertising.

An uncut movie may be 2 hrs long. With advertising it now runs 3 hours long.

A 3 hour movie will run 4 1/2 hours.

So I only watch uncut movies.

Woke TV is the problem

And President Obama paid programs to put his messaging in them. This is a fact. Most famously he did it with Obamacare messaging…

I remember cable TV way back in 1960. Yes, cable TV was in some areas back then. They still had commercials in it.

From the 40s to the 60s programs had sponsors and the cast would even pitch the product sometimes within the program and sometimes adjacent to commercial spots. So they were ads but they were also part of the program

that’s why I record most programs I watch, then fast forward through the commercials. That way a 1-hour show lasts only 45 minutes and a 2-hour show last just under 1 1/2 hours.
