Your favorite shows are getting crammed with more and more commercials. New data from Nielsen show that the number of ads per hour of TV programming is at an all-time high.

Commercials comprised 14 minutes and 15 seconds of each hour of TV on broadcast networks in 2013, up from 13 minutes and 25 seconds in 2009, according to Nielsen’s annual Advertising and Audiences report. On cable, commercials are even more frequent, totalling 15 minutes and 38 seconds of each hour.

Many of the ads today are so disgusting, I won’t allow my children to see them. We cut the chord and stream everything. We also prescreen what we allow the kids to watch. The propaganda is off the charts. That guy with the funny mustache in Germany was born 100 years too early.

I listen to more radio than teevee. What I have noticed since this CV19 stuff is, that on radio, their advertising has fallen was off. Spots that would have been taken by lucrative commercials, now air, PSAs

Commercials used to try to be clever, or funny, or something other than pedantic social engineering. Commercials these seem like they were written in a faculty lounge.

I thought the same thing. Do most people believe they pay for things in their car insurance that isn’t needed? Sheesh!

I’ve been annoyed enough to email them about how much I hate them and the constant commercials. I know it won’t change anything, but I can dream, can’t I?

I won’t even listen to that putz Earl Bailey. I even called to complain about his politicking on air. Surprisingly he toned it down after that, but for some reason he still has to play Joni Mitchell every hour. XM was about like FM was back in it’s infancy. I listened to WAAF out of Boston in the 60s. A short commercial break on the hour and half hour with very little DJ interaction. Sometimes I would wish the DJ would at least tell you the song titles, but for the most part they didn’t. I’d trade that for Sirius’ incessant yammering.

I noticed that on day one of my stay at home. I turned off the tv and have been reading ever since. Fortunately, I have tons of books

I take advantage of commercials to get something done. I can start a load of laundry or make a cup of coffee and feed the cats, or get in 400 steps and not miss a minute of programming.

Gotta ask yourself - where did the new advertising time come from?

Answer: Less Time in the Shows You Want to Watch.

And it shows, no pun intended.
