But yet here in WA our gov wants to release 980 felons into society because of 'maybe' they'd contact COVID in prison and also has an edict for people to stay in their house.

It’s sad and not a little surprising that LEOs sworn to uphold the law (the supreme law being the U.S. Constitution) have chosen instead to enforce these “executive orders” that have not been debated, voted on or enacted by the people’s representatives. Not all LEOs have taken the path to stand with the governor and against their neighbors for sure ... but the brave ones appear to be few and far between (and I come from a family of many LEOs).
