FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Baseball Hall of Famer Roy Halladay had high levels of amphetamines in his system and was doing extreme acrobatics when he lost control of his small plane and nosedived into the Gulf of Mexico in 2017, killing him, a National Transportation Safety Board report issued Wednesday said.

I think he was a great pitcher.

He probably did not have to worry about not having enough money for the rest of his life...I am sure that he made lots of money during his MLB days...

I am thinking of Rod Beck and Ken Caminiti...They passed away...They both had drug problems...Roy Halladay had a drug problem also...

The finding of drugs in his system has been known since shortly after the accident when the toxicology report was done.

By the way, my son is not an old pilot yet, but he plans on being one. 👍

"Halladay had amphetamine levels about 10 times therapeutic levels in his blood along with a high level of morphine and an anti-depressant that can impair judgement"

NOTICE that THEY DO NOT NAME the "anti-depressant that can impair judgement".

They do not name the amphetimime or the kind of morphine either.

The new research, by scientists at the University of Cambridge’s Behavioural and Clinical Neuroscience Institute, discovered that healthy volunteers given drugs which increase their serotonin, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), have an increased aversion to harming others, viewing such actions as morally forbidden.

“NOTICE that THEY DO NOT NAME the “anti-depressant that can impair judgement”.

They all impair judgement, but pot is #1.

The potheads all claim it doesn’t , but everyone else knows they’re starting to talk like Forest, Forest Gump.

Acrobatics? Was Roy doing these moves in the aisle of the plane? Or...did the author mean "aerobatics"?

Many of the tests are looking for the basic type of molecule...so they are not specific. There are molecules in the body which are metabolites of the original still hanging around...once they know he had an antidepressant on board...they can check his records...otherwise they would have to assay the specific metabolite for each type of parent antidepressant.
