I logged on to this IRS portal this morning. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
After entering all my info it said you are eligible to receive the stimulus check, but we don't have your bank information! How is that possible when I get my social security via direct deposit to my bank account every month?
So I entered my bank information and then the portal said we will deposit the stimulus check to that account! (which is the same account as my SS deposit account).
Yes or get a check in a Few weeks by mail.
Thanks for the scam warning. This is the web site I am using:
https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments
Spam & scam emails are very easy to recognize. Just look at the senders email. Click only on web sites which look like these:
www.xxxxx.GOV/yyyyyyyyyy
The .GOV is the key. There should be no more dots after that.
Don’t hold your breath. I received my SS payment today and did not receive the “stimulus” money. I believe the pecking order was to do all the IRS refunds first, then do the SS at a later date. I guess I’ll have to wait until May.
Good thing it’s not needed.
I would think, from that point, if the direct deposit info was not on the tax returns, they would go through, and check for people on programs like SSI/SSDI/VA DISABILITY, etc., and use the direct deposit info from those programs.
I will hold off putting in the info, to see if the message updates on the site.
Look at the fiasco when Obamacare rolled out. They just hired their cronies and supporters, instead of people that know what they’re doing.
I already got mine for this month, guess I’ll have to wait till next month. If I don’t get it then, I’ll see what’s up.
Exactly.
I understand that. I was just going by what the Treasury Secretary said. I’ll wait, it’s not like it was money I had to have anyway. Will probably pay a little more on my doctor bills for cancer treatment.
Reasons for “Payment Status Not Available” message :
If you are a SSA or RRB Form 1099 recipient, SSI or VA benefit recipient the IRS is working with your agency to issue your payment; your information is not available in this app yet.
“So why did the portal say IRS does not have my bank info?”
Here’s the answer from the IRS website.....
If you are a SSA or RRB Form 1099 recipient, SSI or VA benefit recipient the IRS is working with your agency to issue your payment; your information is not available in this app yet.
Oh, dear.
MOST of my friends have the same message. They DID file 2018 and ALL made below $75000 a year ago. They’re like me: i dont like giving my bank acct to the gubmint’. There is something wrong with this IRS portal..
What I’m trying to find out is if US citizens living abroad who collect SS but don’t submit a tax return ( low income ) will get a little money and if there is something I must apply for in order to get it .
I have none of those “SSA or RRB Form 1099 recipient, SSI or VA benefit recipient “
I believe SSA is Social Security
You dont need to fill out the portal the SS dept. will take care of dispersing the SS participants payments!! I think the SS recipients will be last getting the payments because SS recipients did not lose a job have not been furloughed!!!
entropy I believe you are SSI you dont need the 1099 form!! They will take your banking info from your SS information!!!
I haven’t gone to the form yet but the directions for non filers make it seem like if you do/did not file a 1040, (or other tax forms), lately you will need to fill out the form. I haven’t filed since 2011 because I have only my Navy retirement and Social Security benefits. The wife also receives Social Security and I have one minor dependent.
SSA = Social security account; RRB = RailRoad Benefits; SSI = Supplemental Security Income and VA is Veteran’s Affairs.

Thanks. I’ve been posting that information already myself.
