Bret Baier: Conservatives heads 'would've exploded' if Obama said he had 'total' authority
thehill.com ^ | 04/14/20 | Justin Wise

Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Tuesday called out the "hypocrisy" of President Trump's claim the day before that he has "total" authority when it comes to reopening the nation's economy, saying that conservative heads would have "exploded" had former President Obama said the same thing.

Lots of people forget that.

Trump/FedGov are the only ones who can undo the Federal State of Emergency. That’s what Trump’s talking about.

Feds tell the states what to do all the time. It’s the money.

55 mph, 21 drinking age or no highway money.
Medicaid.
Dept of Ed rules or no Ed money.

PDJT tells Fredo’s Brother, wanna go on your own I dont think so.
Want Fed Bucks, get with the plan.
Lets get this open or we’ll all be broke.

The truth is the governors are in charge of their states. Sure, everything should be coordinated with the feds, but it’s not required. Likewise, Trump had no power to shut the states down to begin with.. and he didn’t. The states did that on their own.. wiring advise from the WH.

Obama is a dictator
| Jun 25th 2014 - 12pm.
Many have called for the impeachment of President Obama, saying that Mr. Obama is the most dangerous and destructive president ever and is far worse than former target, President Richard Nixon.

Mr. Obama has thrown the U.S. Constitution under the bus and is ruling as a dictator. As evidence, Mr. Obama’s delay of the employer mandate in Obamacare, the changing of types of plans available under Obamacare, ignoring our immigrations laws, refusing to deport illegal immigrants, enacting stricter gun-control measures without Congressional legislation, sealing his presidential records, creating government offices and czars without authorization, and changing the pay grades of selected federal employees without authority.

For some work-a-day Americans, these burrs under the saddle might seem insignificant; however, Mr. Obama’s unlawful actions could lead to a troubling scenario: “A Republican Congress is elected and repeals Obama Care over a Democrat President's veto. The president refuses to enforce the repeal. The Supreme Court rules that the president's refusal is unconstitutional. The president denounces the ruling and refuses to be bound by it. If the President persists in rejecting all authority other than his own, the outcome would depend on the side taken by the Armed Forces...”

It seems every week since President Obama took office, we've been hearing that another top military leader has been summarily fired, despite decades of loyal service and valuable experience protecting the nation. It's actually closer to one every 8.8 days, a staggering 200 military brass shown the door in less than five years.

Thus, one wonders if this Stalin-like purge of generals and admirals is a precautionary step taken by Mr. Obama in advance of a descent into the darkness of a constitutional crisis.

Liberals criticize Trump for NOT using his power when he doesn’t use to order a nationwide shutdown.

Or doesn’t use it to simply order companies to produce ventilators.

THEN liberals say he’s a dictator when he says he could do such things but prefers not to.

Most conservatives reluctantly accept that temporarily the President and our Governors within their have enormous power during emergencies; but, insist that neither has unlimited power, and with each passing day grow more concerned about. the erosion of liberty.

For liberals, the issue is black and white. They want unlimited power and oppose Republicans having any power.

So Trump flexes muscle but gets slapped down. When things
go totally, totally south he has his unheeded decrees
to open up the economy as a campaign tool. No?

He did the emergency order and he can stop it anytime which would mean certain funds wouldn’t get to the states and whatever else it did. Surely those steps were an important one to allow govenors to do what they have to. Once he recinds that the game changes and they won’t have the resources to keep this nonsense going.

Dana Perino accidentally or intentionally gave Brett away today. He is and has been a liberal Democrat.

What did she say?

You like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Don’t tell me Trump don’t have the power. Interstate trucking is the life line. Shut it down for three days and watch. Lots of power has never been used.

So they (libs, media) want the President to shut the whole country down, but also say he doesn't have the authority to re open it?

Don't we have a National Emergency?

He didn’t have to say it ... the media and too many Republicans awarded it to him (didn’t want to appear racissss, doncha know!) Fortunately, obama didn’t know what to do with it without, uh, messing things up.

I shouldn’t have to remind everyone about the time that Obama sued the State of Arizona and our Governor Jan Brewer, for trying to enforce Immigration Laws on the books, because it is the responsibility of the Feds to enforce Immigration Laws. BUT THEY WERE IGNORING THE IMMIGRATION LAWS AND ARIZONA WAS (AND STILL IS) BEING OVERRUN WITH ILLEGALS.

So, tell me Mr Big Shot Baier, WHO ACTED LIKE A KING?? It has NEVER been Trump!

“Powers not delegated are RESERVED to states & the PEOPLE. If we dispense with constitutional restraints, we will have more to worry about than a virus.”

Just meaningless words, been ignored all my life by the political/legal experts.

Rights belong only to those that can defend them and only the state can do that whether we like it or not. Having an armed compound does not protect you against a tyrannical state and Waco proved that. Being an isolated prepper doesn't help either, ask Randy Weaver.

How many rallied to help either one of them?

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul appeared to warn President Donald Trump against overreaching on coronavirus restrictions Tuesday, tweeting that “powers not delegated are RESERVED to states & the PEOPLE.” “The constitution doesn’t allow the federal gov’t to become the ultimate regulator of our lives because they wave a doctor’s note,” Paul said. “Powers not delegated are RESERVED to states & the PEOPLE. If we dispense with constitutional restraints, we will have more to worry about than a virus.”

Nor does the Constitution allow for a state government to ignore the BOR. Where's Paul's warning about that?

That leaves us with a non originalist National Emergencies Act that gives 136 emergency powers to the Chief Executive.
