Stanley I. Chera, who parlayed his fathers Brooklyn department store business into one of New York real estates biggest retail empires, reaped huge rewards from the citys emergence as a global shopping destination and used his wealth and connections to play kingmaker for Donald Trump, has died from complications of the coronavirus, making him the most high-profile industry casualty of the global pandemic.
Cheras death on April 11 was confirmed to The Real Deal by sources who have worked closely with the firm he founded and ran, Crown Acquisitions. Yashar Ali, a journalist and contributor to New York Magazine, reported that the Chera family has been informed.
As the pandemic spread rapidly in New York, Trump had advised Chera to leave the city and decamp to his summer home near Deal, N.J., a popular vacation-home destination for many moguls hailing from Cheras Syrian Sephardic Jewish community, which dominates New York retail. Chera took his advice but fell ill anyway, and was admitted to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in late March. According to a source familiar with events, Cheras wife, Frieda (Cookie) also contracted the virus, but recovered.

The friend Trump spoke of in pressers I presume? RIP.
Sad to know. Adds to the President’s sorrowful heart.
This may have been the close friend POTUS recently mentioned at a couple of his WH briefings. I do not know if HCQ + zinc can be administered by IV.
I assume this is the man the President referred to in his briefings. Very sad.
He has no heart!/s
It doesn’t mention the treatment he received or if he suffered from any other health issues. He appeared to be much like the President in his zest for the deal. Once you accumulate enough money business is no longer about making money to pay the bills. Money is just a way of keeping score.
This is a great read for those who are interested in the business world.
Based on article clues, he most likely was on a ventilator, medically induced coma.
Certainly not a kid...and,being overweight,he was probably a diabetic.
Why are not treatment, demographic, precondition and zip code info disclosed without identifying name info.?
I was wondering if he was even treated with the Hydroxychloroquine when he was diagnosed back in March.
He was even more aggressive about denying HCQ treatment back in March.
I have a feeling that if anyone could have access to the HCQ treatment, this guy could have.
Even if NJ had also banned (like CuCuomo).
Im wondering if it was even tried.
Very sad.
