Leading German Virologist: ”No Transmission Of The Virus In Supermarkets, Restaurants Or Hairdressers Has Been Proved”
RTL Luxembourg ^ | 09.04.2020

Posted on 04/12/2020 10:52:54 PM PDT by Helicondelta

Mr Streeck is a professor for virology and the director of the Institute of virology and HIV Research at the University Bonn. He explained the methodology of his new study in Heinsberg, the “epicentre” of Germany’s COVID-19 outbreak, and talked about potential plans for a country to move forward gradually in getting back to a “normal” life.

These research findings have already provided some indication on how the virus works, as Streeck clarified:

“There is no significant risk of catching the disease when you go shopping. Severe outbreaks of the infection were always a result of people being closer together over a longer period of time, for example the après- ski parties in Ischgl, Austria.” He could also not find any evidence of ‘living’ viruses on surfaces. “When we took samples from door handles, phones or toilets it has not been possible to cultivate the virus in the laboratory on the basis of these swabs….”

“You can find the virus on a surface but it doesn’t mean that it can infect you. He is saying that it can’t.”

That’s also my take (and I’m not even a FluBro). The amount of virus particles (virons) is astronomical on the planet by now, just due to their puny size (a grain of sand that is barely visible can hold 500 billion of them) - so they are EVERYWHERE, probably every time we breathe or eat we get a few. And just for those who think the virus should have stayed in Asia/Italy - sorry but we flew people in from those places by the THOUSANDS, every day, through Jan, Feb, and much of March.

Yet, still, most people still are not infected - hence it is not easy to get infected and doorknobs, US Mail, etc. stories seem more designed to panic people. If you’re healthy and not on blood pressure meds, your immune system identifies the few active invaders and pummels them, and then laughs about it.

But still, get into a tight area with a vector who’s spewing out the virons (a taxi, prostitute, etc.), they will build up in your system, and then overwhelm it - and you do get sick at that point.

The keyword is PROVED. How the heck do you prove where a virus was contracted, or that it was not contracted in a particular location?

Put it to you this way. Germany is the only country I’ve ever been in where the following is believable: On an empty street at 2AM, people will stand waiting for a broken crosswalk light to change for 15 minutes. And once they realize that it won’t change, they wait some more. Then they go walk the other way to the next light instead of chancing it and jaywalking. This is a joke I’ve heard from Germans, but I would believe it if I saw people doing it in person. There is also a German heavy metal song that has the entirely unironic, unsarcastic, heartfelt refrain, “We stand strong to obey the rules.” Not kidding.

Japan is like that. Hmmm, seems like they had something else in common....

“Social distancing” is far less important than health-safe personal social practices.

1. If sick (a) do not go to work, PERIOD; (b) go out only for essentials and wear a mask and latex gloves at all times; (c) when coughing or sneezing cover your mouth and nose with disposable tissues not your bare hands; (d) if a fever develops get to a doctor, do not wait.

2. If not sick or “with symptoms”, (a) protect yourself with a mask when in close contact with strangers, using context-driven good judgement on what that means; (b) do not touch surfaces outside the home without gloves, and if you do wash your hands immediately before doing anything else when you get home; do not touch your eyes, mouth or nose with your hand, with or without a glove on it.

End of good measures. Standing six feet apart between people who are not coughing or sneezing is doing zilch, zip, nada to “control” the virus. There is only assumptions and no verifiable confirmed studies that show active Wuhan virus remnants are expelled in the breath of “asymptomatic” folks. Even a “scientist” saying such and such is “possible” without backing it up with any empirical study is not demonstrating proof, only a guess.

This not the first time a good scientist has tried to make, for the public, a distinction between the mere finding of a viral remnant on a surface and a viral remnant that is viable (able to enter a host cell) - infectious.

Hey, he's a virologist or some such thing. That's fancy word for "expert". We're supposed to base our very livelihoods on what the experts say. At least he's done SOME amount of research. Unlike that Fauci guy.

End! The! Lockdown!

Should Texans stop HEB delivery orders, over these postitive cases?

I’m pretty convinced it’s most everywhere by now. It’s simply a matter of time before we all get it, if we haven’t gotten it by now.

"Should Texans stop HEB delivery orders, over these postitive cases?"

Delivery and curbside pick-up don't require any personal contact, so the risk there is super low. I'd worry more about personal contact in store, or in line outside the store.

There is some very small possible risk from the handling of the packages, so wash your hands after handling it, and rinse any produce that might have been handled or exposed in store.

Oh, we wipe down ALL groceries that are delivered....while wearing gloves.

We first spray the bag “handles”, with alcohol spray, then we wipe down all items, and I then do a bleach water dip, on produce, followed by a thorough water rinse.

Thanks.

Maybe we’re all getting small amounts of viral load, or have been, over the course of time, since it’s been here.

We’ve been hunkering down, for weeks, and try to keep our delivery packages sprayed/set out in the sun, etc., but who knows what exposure we may have already had?

Maybe that’s the point of the ‘stay at home’ and social distancing...maybe we’re all either getting it, full blown, or small amounts of exposure, over time.

Will be interesting, to someday know.

And no, the term “genius” isn’t referring to you, but to the alleged virologist.

If you want to slam the guy, you might want to re-read the article more carefully first. It wasn't Streeck who used the "alive" terminology but the RTL reporter. See how that particular sentence is not in quotation marks (and even then "living" is in scare quotes)?

What Streeck actually said according to the article was: “When we took samples from door handles, phones or toilets it has not been possible to cultivate the virus in the laboratory on the basis of these swabs….”

Not possible to cultivate the virus in the lab on the basis of the swabs. That's all.

For what it’s worth, my wife is a rural postal deliverer. She get mail from around the nation and world sent here. She said not a single postal worker or route driver has missed any time because of this. Not a single one.
