PART THREE

*texokie found a comfortable set of clean jeans and a sweater which has only the teeniest place where it has started to unravel. She washed her face, polished her trifocals, and put on the freshly wiped face shield and started downstairs with her laptop and a large sheaf of papers in hand. She felt very jaunty at the bright scarf she had chosen to place around her neck. She took the papers and her laptop with her to the Qanteen Quiet Room. The magnificent picture of Q+ and Flotus, which had been left by our friend Seymore in the Qanteen Quiet room when he had come to the Qanteen on Christmas Eve Eve for help was still featured prominently in the Quiet Room. *

*The afternoon was sunny and warm but with the overtones of that crisp clean mountain air, so the window was open overlooking the lake and the dock with the neighbor children playing on it. The sounds of their laughter and shouts reached into the Quiet Room in its own kind of Quiet.*

*They seemed to be playing World War I games, because they had been tricked out by their parents in the father’s painting masks which had the canisters on each side of the face, reminiscent of the gas masks of that long ago time period. The Quiet Room was empty, so texokie took a chair closer to the window and watched them. At one point, she broke out laughing at the highly dramatic way one of the kids chose to illustrate the pretend death he had experienced at the hands of the Enemy. Then recalling how that whole war was so pitilessly brutal, and had been a manipulation and heartless Event created by the Power Elite of that time, she caught a tear in her eye and prayed that these children would never have to face the reality of what they were pretending to experience in their play. *

*These kids were so innocent and so serious at their play. One little one, a tiny girl, went to the “fallen” soldier and gave him a flower and helped him up and dusted him off and comforted him. The family dog bounded up at that time, and all thoughts of World War I trench warfare was driven from all their minds. They patted the dog, skipped rocks across the lake, and then chased the dog who had grabbed one child’s shoe after taking them off to wade in the cold lake shore waters. That dog was making a FINE game of it, having all those children chase him! Bad Dog!*

*texokie smiled and returned her attention to the room and the reason for her visit to the Quiet Room. Mother of Dragons (and dragonlets) had arranged for each FReeQ to have the opportunity to contribute material and/or volunteer to be a service leader for an ongoing all day Ecumenical Easter Service on Easter Sunday. FReeQs had been able to draw lots for time slots as to when they could be in the Quiet Room in person. Service Leaders were also drawn by lot for their time to lead devotions. *

*Chairs were appropriately arranged to achieve the necessary cautious distance, and with the face shields or masks, we should all be safe. There was a new camera set up in the back to feed into the Qanteen Computer Skype system so any FReeQ could participate at any time during the day in the services from their rooms or the Qommon areas.*

*Texokie got out a lapboard from the rear cubby area, and sat with her laptop and the sheaf of papers to plan her own contribution to the services.*
