Oh - there is a new type of UV light that folks are developing that is NOT harmful to humans, pets, plants. That way they can run them while the patient is in the room. I wonder if this new type of UV light (a different frequency) will also be safe for masks?
But just be aware their box used for masks might be using a different frequency of light than what we have with our UVC lamps.
Yes, there are different frequencies of UV-C. Two of the UV-C bands produce O3 (one more than the other). As I already have O3 generators, I bought one with the UV-C band that does not generate O3. That way, I won’t have to wait for the O3 to dissipate, before entering a treated room. I haven’t heard about another type of UV light, but I’ll be on the lookout for it now.
I don’t know which (if any) strains of UV-C will be given the official stamp of approval for sterilizing masks. I’m assuming that we’ll find out soon.
