A leading German epidemiologist who predicted the coronavirus crisis in Europe is now calling for governments to end the lockdown. But he now believes the lockdown is in danger of going on too long and causing more damage than the virus, and has drawn up a plan for how it can be safely lifted.
“It’s impossible to wait for a vaccine,” Prof Kekulé told The Telegraph. “The quickest we could have a vaccine ready is in six months. Based on experience, I’d say the reality is closer to a year. We can’t stay under lockdown for six months to a year. If we did that our society and our culture would be ruined.”
First, he says, the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions who are most vulnerable to the virus must remain in isolation.
“We have to persuade them to stay at home, and that means we have to find ways of making it bearable for them, such as apps that will allow them to order their shopping or continue their social life,” he says.
That brings us to the second point in Prof Kekulé’s plan: a move from social distancing to what he calls “smart distancing”.
“We need to adapt distancing to the situation. A cashier at a supermarket check-out, for instance, is going to be exposed to infection all day. He needs to wear a mask, he needs proper hygiene measures. A taxi driver needs to learn not to touch his face after handling money.”
Thirdly, and most controversially, Prof Kekulé says we have to let the young get the virus. “People under 50 are very, very unlikely to die or get seriously ill from the coronavirus,” he says. “We have to let them get infected so they can develop immunity.”

Polio is a different kind of RNA virus (an enterovirus, which is not enveloped), but the Sabin vaccine used this approach, and it worked. It also led to herd immunity. Although coronaviruses are enveloped, and do not infect only via an enteric route, they are single stranded (positive strand) RNA viruses - like the enteroviruses. Multiple attenuated strains could be combined in an oral vaccine, and might promote broad immunization.
Just a thought.
Its the only common-sense approach, and this has been obvious for several weeks.
I have no doubt Governments will certainly adopt this policy soon.
They will start adjusting corporate media propaganda, to eliminate the fear they first created, and create a public mood swing - the goal of which is to protect the reputation of political leaders who caused this disaster, and try not to show too much hypocrisy and stupidity of public institutions.

We need to test people for COVID-19 and its antibodies before immunizing them so we know more about how virus spreads. People may already have been infected with virus without knowing it and are now immune to it anyway.
Immunizing people without first testing for exposure just throws valuable data away imo.

I have been saying this for weeks. An Merkle even said this. The only people who should be or need be in quarantine are the “at risk “ people. They are the ones who fill the hospitals. They are the ones who fill the morgues. And they use up the resources. Hide them, and let the virus wash over us. Some will die. But you can’t stop it. No doctor is saying you can stop it. So hide the most vulnerable and go quickly to herd immunity. The faster the better.
Also, we need to investigate what Tucker said last night. What is going on in China. Something is very very wrong there. We no they are lying. No surprise. But how are they lying. What are they lying about? Shanghai and Beijing had early cases reported by China itself. They did not go through the severe lock down like Wuhan. But they seem to have few cases, why? Did they get it and go through the same as Paris? Or did they have no deaths as reported. You would think there were draconian measures in these first world cities but nobody is talking? Which is it? Or... here comes the conspiracy, were they ready for it. Did they have a vaccine or a drug? Or were cases kept out of those cities before we were told about the infection rates? Where is the lie? We know there is a lie, but where is it?
Since science and history show immunity is almost always available to those who have recovered from a disease (its the basis for vaccines, after all), for a fringe notion as yours, its really up to you to prove conclusively immunity is somehow not possible with Covid-19 - not the other way around.

OF COURSE China is lying. Does anyone believe that Shanghai, a city of 25 million, a transport hub of China, 800 KM downriver from Wuhan, has only had 6 total deaths from Covid-19? Its pure bullshit.
I know China well. What’s happened is very simple. The Chinese Government now understands this disease and who it affects. Its is not a threat to the nation or CCP control. So the Government has simply declared victory, and claim its due to their great leadership. What remains is simply managing news and public opinion, and Communists are very good at that. China will be declared “Covid-19 free” - and who, especially in China, will prove them wrong?

from what I have read, the rates of death from pneumonia and flu are down.....

those that would have probably died from pneumonia (blessing of the aged) or flu now are dying from the covid.....
what exactly was accomplished from this farcical shutdown besides ruining the lives of millions of people?.....
tell the vulnerable to stay isolated, period....but ONLY if they want to...otherwise, we all take our chances....
I now believe that this has been a political stunt springing from an unfortunate illness turned into a monster by TPTB....
