Disney has targeted Robin Hood as the latest of its animated classics to get the remake treatment.
Carlos Lopez Estrada, perhaps best known for directing the 2018 crime movie Blindspotting, is on board to helm the project, which is being written by Kari Granlund. Granlund already is in the Disney fold after having written the studios recent remake of Lady and the Tramp.
Justin Springer, who counts the studios Dumbo and Tron Legacy among his credits, is producing the feature being developed for the studios Disney+ streaming service.
Robin Hood was a comedic and musical take on the famous tale, with anthropomorphic animals inhabiting the roles of the characters made famous over the centuries. Hood was a fox; Little John, a bear; Friar Tuck, a badger; Prince John, a thumb-sucking lion; the sheriff of Nottingham, a wolf; and Maid Marian, a vixen.

Robin and Friar Tuck will be humping each other.
“I bet Robin will be bisexual and his merry men will be gay. Maid Marion will be a tranny and the sheriff will be an evil straight guy.”
They’ll have to do that because there is obviously no new material that the Disney group could adapt to make a new, original, good, clean movie.
Really!
Robin Hood: "Comrade Littlejohn, please explain to our gathered comrades the idea of the dialectic and the involvement of the workers and peasants in the historical transformation of society. Discuss the historical inevitability of this transformation."
There was only one version following the Errol Flynn version that was worthy anything. I actually thought it was better. It featured Patrick Bergen and Uma Thurman made in 1991.
Scratch, that, it blew all of them away, although I love the old Errol Flynn version from childhood.
On her tiptoed feet...pulling mussels from a shell!
With Mel Brook’s take a close second!
Will he have and English accent? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrFmuiF2ENY
Speaking of the Mel Brooks version, see post 28.
Deadpool was the last entertaining movie from Marvel. There are so many graphic artists out there with original material.
What the heck happened to Disney's creativity? Guess we're trapped into to re-boots and sequels for years.
Brooks also produced “When Things Were Rotten” which was a short-lived series based on Robin Hood.
James Carville as Sir Hiss.
I also like this version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUSJZ3ymuVs Skip to about the 3 minute mark.
Will Friar Tuck be a transsexual atheist who is a priest who worships the earth?
Dennis Moore!
“Wait a tic....blimey, this redistribution of wealth is trickier than I thought.”
Oh it played in the theaters. They had a big to do about it in Savannah, where it was filmed. But,it also went straight on Disney+ as they came out on the same day.
I have a digital copy of that show. It was one of his greatest works, but, no body seems to remember. I loved that show.
I’d rather have a Dennis Moore movie.
Halt! Halt!
Gentlemen, ladies, bring out your valuables please. Come along sir, come along. Come along, madam, come along. Oh, is that all you’ve got ... well, he’s got much more than you ... so you’d better have some of his ... (transfers money from one passenger to another, dropping some)... sorry... pick them up in a moment... there’s about oh, what, nine down there... so you must have about... oh, he’s still got lots... oh you’ve got what? ... you’ve got more than he started with... so if I give you some of those (transferring more coins) ... well now, look ... have you got a bit of jewellery? If I give you that one and you have some of his coins (the credits start, superimposed) ... is that another box? Were you trying to hide it? Well, that’s nice! Right! Now. I’ve got a tiara ... you’ve got one... you’ve got one of the boxes... you’ve got one... anyone else got a tiara? Take your hat off! (passenger does so to reveal a tiara)... Oh, honestly, it’s absolutely pointless trying to do this if you’re going to cheat. It really is awful of you.
