I have several tomato plantings going.
Planting an eggplant and more tomatoes, tomorrow.
If the tomato plants survive (lol) and produce....I’ll be doing some canning, myself.
I love fresh tomatoes!
I found onion and cilantro seeds, too...so, I can make salsa, if all goes well.
Glad your seedlings are going.
Yeah, pretty dramatic.
However, Sweden made no effort to protect those especially vulnerable. If they had maybe things would look different.
I was for letting the young and healthy get the virus as soon as we saw who the virus successfully attacked- not them.
But there would be so many loopholes the virus could slip through that now I don’t think that practical.
With partial ‘herd immunity’ maybe it makes sense, maybe not LOL! I’ve no idea.
Yay tomatoes!
Our local nursery had some “grafted” varieties — there is a nasty form of blight in our region. I don’t know how many people have tried them or with what success. I know that strong rootstock helps and that volunteer plants (even if non-grafted) do better than transplants in fighting it.
Looking good!
Good one!
As soon as I saw him miss characterize the original story claims, stopped reading. A lot huffing and puffing there but Humpty Dumpty still on the wall. The Deep State Trolls are horribly bastardizing science now. We must be nearing their end.
No, I want people out of their houses. But I think it’s illogical to deliberately kill 40 or 100 million people in the name of attempting herd immunity. There is no guarantee what number is immunity. Or how many nations would be completely depopulated as herd casualties so that 1 Billion of 9 Billion humans survives (10% herd immunity). Which is why I’d be more concerned with identifying the ASs - the shedders - than with the antibodied.
The current model being talked about is let the shedders and the antibodied mix, and keep the never-infected at home. I don’t like that model one bit. It’s not smart. Number one because we don’t know what ‘immunity’ means yet. Is it 30 days? 45 days? 100 days? a lifetime? Big gamble. And number two, those never-infected-and-at-home are the business owners. No them, no businesses.
Going back to Calif as an example, the longest we know of testing positive is 37 days DP fella. Some Califs are at or have exceeded that mark. One would think that after 37+ days, the asymptomatics would have been outed by those they live with - as their roommate or family get sick from close exposure to an asymptomatic. And we’re clearly seeing that with the jump in cases testing positive. Same as our initial cases were close-contact only.
So we identify the AS and their family members/housemates, and isolate those folks (statistically in calif about 10% - 20%). Until they test negative. Sucks for them to do another 40 day stretch but it’s a huge positive for the rest of the population. And we go back to contact-tracking.
The antibodied aren’t going to make folks sick (hopefully) and those who’ve never been exposed aren’t either, so the rest of the country goes back to work, starting with the lowest case numbers per county and working up. Large companies like Apple, Twitter & Google Amazon, Wallyworld, PG&E, the breweries, the meat packers, all the large outfits, do testing inhouse for the next 60 days.
I would also change grocery shopping - submit an order, pick up curbside on the way home. If the number of workers getting sick are an indication, we are getting community spread from grocers, so we change it to curbside, which does seem to be working to prevent sickness in fastfood/restaurant takeout places).
(HIV was just an example of a virus that ppl ‘let burn’ by politicizing research)
I'm up to two monolaurins a day. No problems yet.
All that is possible, but not once is the international angle addressed. This was the Worlds main producer of many goods. They will never come back from this.
I did not take the obvious bait lol.

“The public is reminded that beach parks remain closed 24/7, including Easter Sunday, and gatherings of more than 10 persons are prohibited by emergency order.
As part of Hawaii’s COVID-19 efforts, HPD officers will be checking parks and lookouts across Oahu.”
This would be a great time to bring back “full service” gas stations. Or, at least, provide someone to pump the gas so the buyer didn’t have to touch the handle.
AR/NM travel update.
DH’s task in TN complete. Out of Nashville, no direct flights back to CA, no direct flights to Albuquerque. Flight to CA 14 hours, 2 stopovers, and full. No social distancing opportunity.
DH driving to NM client next. Stopped for the day near AR/OK border. Best Western hotel says no guests except a) AR resident; b) shelter-in-place; c) govt/essential. (we have ltr). Desk clerk says this is statewide AR. Room service only from restaurant.
NM - 14 day mandatory quarantine for air travel into the state (unless ltr). Will find out about hotels tomorrow if travel time is good and weather permitting.
2 robots up and running, 4 to go - 3 NM, 1 CA (Calif outfit will be producing metal nose-strip inserts for the n95s)
I should have asked the doc for a script for Xanax. It’s harrowing being here, sitting in the living room with the Christmas Tree still up, when he’s ‘out there’. But I’m ready for Christmas in July by golly :)
I flushed the pills after signing the muster sheet for receiving them when I “visited” Timor Leste, then slathered up with deet instead. I kinda wish I had saved them at this point.
The claim that 97 out of 99 infections were foreigners is laughable, as is the claim that there were only 99 new infections. But claiming all the infections are a result of "outsiders" justifies shutting down travel while they work on eliminating infections internally.
nobody’s sure. There were only a few papers. But the tingling/hypersensitivity reminds me offhand of allodynia
or even fibromyalgia or shingles - hypersensitivity of nerve endings but no rash. And nerve endings are cns. Allergic reaction to something in the virus?
I would freak out if my skin was ‘buzzing’. I can’t imagine - or rather, don’t even want to imagine!
new word for me: allodynia

This will be something to watch in China over the next week.

#Sichuan Province in #China is urgently preparing 52K rooms for quarantine purposes at multiple cities. Its capital city #Chengdu is required to have 10K rooms ready. My hometown Mianyang needs to prepare 6K rooms CDC in each city required to...
CCPChina is still forbidding foreign nationals admission, and are quarantining their citizens for 14 days. We might not be able to find out all the hotels that are ‘closed’ except for quarantine’ers, but since CCP is only allowing one flight a week, and only from certain areas, Flighttracker should be able to give us an estimate of passenger load. And from that we should be able to guestimate how many returning passengers are likely to come down sick during quarantine. That may give us a better number than fantasy numbers from CCP.
