From the DM article (n.b. - it is a DM article, and they have a documented history of misstating quotes and making up ‘stuff):
“Truck driver Josh Rickards, who owns a fleet of three tractor-trailers, told Yahoo Finance that the drivers who lease under his authority can’t be convinced to take a job that requires them to travel to New York City, the epicenter of the outbreak.
‘I mean, no one really wants to go there. Everyone’s afraid of going there and being in a position where they actually contract the virus themselves,’ Rickards said.”
Just food for thought - there will be brave truckers that will go to NYC. Between increased pay, PPE and careful behavior, there will be brave truckers that will go.
Navajo Nation President, Vice President self-quarantine after possible COVID-19 exposure
Officials say they were in close proximity to the first responder earlier this week who later tested positive for the disease.
As of Thursday, there are 488 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Navajo Nation and 20 reported deaths.
Officials issued a mandatory shelter-in-place and curfew across the nation.
“The FDNY reported a nearly 400 percent increase in cardiac arrest home deaths in late March and early April, a spike that officials say is almost certainly driven by COVID-19, whether they were formally diagnosed or not.”
FluBro Response: “They’re only dying because they THINK they have Coronavirus”.
The world wide case total looks to be growing linearly at a rate of approximately 500k cases per week (very eyeball). This is very good news as that means the R0 has been lowered dramatically by mitigation.
That doesn’t mean it’s over or even contained, but the cumulative case graph looks linear rather than exponential. That does not imply an inflection point in the growth curve, but there is hope!
Now the question is how long we stay this way. Just because the new case rate seems to be levelling off rather than growing, we can’t let up. We need that number to be declining.
Two weeks of linear growth is not conclusive, but it is better than continued exponential growth.
And as I said, this is very much an eyeball evaluation.
If our gov did not dilly dally all the time, they would be testing every truck driver right now for anti bodies.
“FluBro response: Yea, but how many people died of flu last year?”
61,200 according to CDC estimates. That was 2018-2019. Their new gold standard is 2017-2018 with a toll of 80,000. Worst flu season this millennium.
Over 6 months, the entire flu season, without mitigation, Flu2017 killed 80,000. In 6 weeks, with widespread quarantines and shutdowns, CCP-19 has killed almost 19,000. Not including the couple thousand not in the official tally in NYC alone.
Bottom Line: Consumer Reports reveals best ways to do laundry during coronavirus pandemic
Its unknown how long the coronavirus can survive on clothes... hours or even days. Therefore, any clothes that may have been exposed... should be treated as contaminated and kept in a separate laundry bin.
When its time to do the laundry, use disposable gloves and throw them away immediately after you finish, then wash your hands...
The experts say that no special detergent or bleach is needed, but that you should use the warmest water setting for the items being washed...
...disinfect all the surfaces in your laundry room that may have been contaminated, like doorknobs and the door pull on the washing machine.

As the US approaches the half-million mark of # of people infected with covid-19, Chris shares his personal regimen for keeping his immune system elevated.
This is NOT personal medical advice, though Chris shares the research results supportive of his regimen.
Meanwhile, the damage to the global economy continues to amplify.
In China, half a million companies have closed already.
In the US, over 16 million people have filed for unemployment.
And the response from US central authorities is staggering in scope. $Trillions and $trillions in stimulus is now flooding onto the stage. Will it rescue the companies and households that are suffering?
Time will tell. Though it's an easy bet to predict that the larger and more powerful parties will fare much better than the average joe.
Chris points out how the decision-makers within Congress and the Fed don't fathom (or more accurately, can't fathom) the magnitude of the steps they're taking. The sums are just too big.
What ripple effects will this drastic action have for our currency's purchasing power? To the already terrible wealth gap in this country?
Again, time will tell. But we very much may not like the answers we ultimately get.
On a more positive note: Happy Easter/Passover! Get out there this weekend and start/work on your garden!
The original goofball estimate of 1M - 2M deaths was WITH some measure of mitigation built in.
I live in CA. just in case you didnt know that!!

His first coronavirus test was negative. Now, this 39-year-old city leader is on life support
The coronavirus so ruthlessly attacked Gerardo Hernandez’s lungs that he now needs a ventilator to breathe for him. A tube delivers food to his stomach. His kidneys no longer function on their own.
The 39-year-old has spent the last three weeks lying unconscious in a hospital bed, barely clinging to life.
But when Hernandez was first tested for the coronavirus, when he showed up at an emergency room gasping for breath, he got a false negative and had to be retested
Frankly I rally dont give damn what you think about me, you have been a doom and gloom pusher from the beginning and you have been DEAD WRONG!!
“When its time to do the laundry, use disposable gloves and throw them away immediately”
..What if a bird/rodent then transports COV-19 from dump to someone’s property?

Dear cruise ships, you can get the money and have the Jones Act waived as a bonus (since you’re technically not cargo ships), if and only if you re-flag with the USA.
Coronavirus infection may cause lasting damage throughout the body, doctors fear
...Chief among the worrisome test results were readings that suggested these apparently recovered patients continued to have impaired liver function. That was the case even after two tests for the live virus had come back negative and the patients were cleared to be discharged.
At the same time, as cardiologists are contending with the immediate effects of COVID-19 on the heart, they’re asking how much of the damage could be long-lasting. In an early study of COVID-19 patients in China, heart failure was seen in nearly 12% of those who survived, including in some who had shown no signs of respiratory distress.
...Add to that chaos the force of inflammation, which flares in those with severe COVID-19. The result can do damage throughout the body, prying plaques and clots from the walls of blood vessels and causing strokes, heart attacks and venous embolisms...
Chinese study, but still..
