'True Christians don't mind dying of COVID-19 if they're infected at church': Louisiana pastor insists on still holding services as he faces charges for already having defied state's ban on public gatherings

A Louisiana preacher insists on still holding services despite his state being a coronavirus hotspot and orders aimed at curbing the deadly outbreak because his congregants are ready to die for their faith. The Rev. Tony Spell of Life Tabernacle Church in Central City already faces six misdemeanor charges after he held Palm Sunday services last weekend that attracted hundreds to his church, including many who came in 26 packed buses. Spell was unapologetic when asked in an interview if he thought he would have blood on his hands if one of his congregants becomes infected and dies. 'Like any revolutionary, or like any zealot, or like any pure religious person, death looks to them like a welcome friend. ' he says. 'True Christians do not mind dying. They fear living in fear.'

Jesus put down His guns which are way bigger than yours or mine and how did it work out for Him, ask yourself that. I won’t debate whether “you” should or shouldn’t, but be careful with painting with such a broad brush because it seems to always end up with utter failure for the one who did the painting. If you are following the guidance of the Holy Spirit you will do what’s right every time, but ultimately “you” not us will decide what to do when the time comes.

"Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God, the things that are God’s,"

I'm not making that call for you, it's up to you.

Also the greatest commandment that we love one another would probably apply here in that possibly infecting our brothers and sisters in church is not very loving...

I read that in some places virtual attendance was higher that physical attendance.

And this...

Luke 4:12
And Jesus answered and said to him, “It is said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’”

Thanks to the interwebs, I can virtually attend the church I grew up in. In Africa.

African churches seem to be very strong on spiritual warfare.

American churches seem more compromising and name it and claim it.

The African church is certainly more spiritually oriented. For sure.

And it isn’t a 20m sermon and done either. Church lasts 2 or 3 hours with no set ending time that I can discern.

And they certainly mind being the source of death of other members and causing more problems for healthcare workers.

Our church is online and sending food to healthcare workers.

A bunch of churches in the SF Bay area are gathering online to pray.

I’ve done research here and there on spiritual warfare and familiar spirits and powers and principalities and most of better results as far as education and prayer have been from African churches.

American churches need to focus more on these things because America is under attack same as the rest of the world.

Nobody wants to hear about that kind of thing. They say if you talk about the devil you give him power. But if you ignore the devil he gains more strongholds. The bible says we are to pray and cast out demons as necessary.

I sometimes think our modern churches here in America don’t want us to know what kind of power we have as written in the bible.

I’ve had pastors tell me I don’t need to worry about such things or about the end times or the book of Revelations.

Doesn’t make sense to me
:)

I certainly feel more spiritually invigorated after I listen to one of the African Christian sermons. They tell it like it is.

And that particular church has moved to total online sermons/services. Did so 2 or 3 weeks ago in fact.

The caliber of preaching didn’t change.

So, if you’re a ‘true Cristian” you should attend the toxic soup group to insure the pastor gets his share of the basket....or sumpin’ like dat.

Had to be, “The Apostolics of Baton Rouge”.

Can’t fault them on their fervor but they take pride in self-flagellation. The more extreme they become the more persecution they get and that justifies everything.

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Boys, don’t ever get sucked into marrying one of them during their rebellious phase of life. They seem to always relapse and what you get is a lot of false advertising. They only deserve each other since everyone else is wrong and going to hell as far as they are concerned.

The line between cult and religion is dim for most but not for these. Just my opinion and experience.

Yes, that too. The first thing we said when we stopped meeting, when there was still not much information, was, “We have to think about the old people.”

Since they aren’t concerned, shouldnt he be encouraging those that are infected to come to church on Sunday and be healed by a laying on of hands?
