They work 36 weeks a year and have THREE months vacation. Boo Hoo! My husband got ONE week for vacation every year. He was a mechanical engineer. That shows the world that teachers are all but expendable but engineers aren't.
Neither are those in the trades...mechanics, for example, plumbers, carpenters--those who WORK for a living.
The teachers are BIG, FAT whiners.
.
.
I know this because I was a MOST GRATEFUL college instructor. I wouldn't go on strike and I drove in right past their picket line.
I did bring them a huge box of fresh, warm doughnuts on their first morning on strike! THAT took all the fight out of them!
Just saw such a report on the local Boston news a couple of hours ago.
BIG, FAT
Pretty much
Excuse me for living, but I have never heard of “car parades”, so please explain this obscure happenstance.
Do you have any idea what a School car parade is? Do you know the difference between that and church service? Do you know how utterly unhinged you look? Get a grip.
The Fairfax County School System is exclusively interested in delivering free meals.
There has been NO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM YET for students.
Every day, parents het messages about where they can pick up free or $1/$2 meals.
The Fairfax County School System is a welfare program, NOT a school system.
Again - I have always educated my kids and never counted on a “school,” and for fear of retribution could never go public,
but FCPS is NOT an educational system. As their emails state they are focused on “equity,” [sic,] not education.
I believe they have already spent over $20m on “free laptops for people who say they need them.”
FCPS has abandoned its kids...
And the facts are relegated to a few lines on a blog.
They are just trying to show that they are really, really important and necessary-afraid the parents who still have kids in public school will see how easy it is to teach their own kids with just a computer and a parent or other adult family member who is attentive and involved-and the kids are actually learning real lessons instead of climate change stuff, sexual misinformation and other liberal indoctrination I’m guessing there will be even fewer kids in public school out here next year-already over 1/2 the kids are homeschooled or in the Christian school here...
One word describes the “organization” behind this.. public relations stunt— because they are NOT working but “bringing” the school to the families and students in a car parade- no lessons, no testing no nothing.
The Word is UNION— Teacher’s Union/The AFT/NEA=== a STUNT
I was a public school teacher for over 30 years. Never in a union, never went on strike. After five years I had tenure, which meant that I couldn’t be replaced because my principal’s niece was looking for a jobhappened to my wife. Had contracts and was paid for 180 days a year. My pay was divided into 12 paychecks rather than 9. Most teachers preferred that because they can’t manage their money. Schools preferred it because they got to keep the interest earned for most of the year.
Unlike other jobs that have seasonal layoffs, teachers are specifically excluded from unemployment checks during the summer if they have contracts for the next year. Most younger teachers take on summer jobs.
I grew up in SoCal. Big Hollywood stars would troop down to the unemployment office as soon as a film production stopped. It was almost a point of pride for them.
I truly understand the animosity by many for public school teachers. And in many cases it is well deserved. I cannot stand the idea of teachers unions and strikes that always seem to occur at the very beginning or end of the school year. The men and women I worked with worked hard to teach the kids in their classes. I was very lucky in my career.
Jealous? We cant do this so why should they? Were better than that. Fight for car church, not for shutting down harmless teacher parades.
Basically teachers will all drive to the school, put some “we miss you” signs on their cars and drive around the neighborhood their school serves. Usually it is announced on social media so the kids will wave from their yards.
They use the school buses here in Indiana to deliver the grub, which makes sense since the drivers know where everybody lives.
That is some truly stupid ****. Id be the kid waving back with only one finger (not really, but Id wish I was that kid).
count on it....they’ll moan about all the gas they used and congress will give another little check for all their “expenses”....

Once again, friends: the issue is NEVER the issue, the issue is ALWAYS the revolution.
Teachers ¡sí!, churches ¡no!
The teachers here had their parades before the more extreme stay at home measures were taken. At least one church here held a drive up church service the same week. This week, there are no parades or drive up church services. (to my knowledge) The parades were great fun for this town. Some friends went to the parking lot church service and said it was great. My son could see/hear it from his work, and he said it looked “cool.” The format of that church’s services is not my cup of tea, but some folks like it. I have watched part of their online LIVE services via Facebook over the last few weeks. The best thing about this shut down has been seeing so many churches take their services online. I don’t think the Dimpanics or the CCP plotted out how churches would thrive during this time. My anecdotal evidence is that more people are praying and seeking than in a very long time.
Mine as well. I think an unintentional Third Great Awakening could be on the horizon, and I for one of many would greatly desire it.
