Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards used his news conference today to blame society for the large proportion of black people who die from COVID-19.
He gave the podium to a black doctor from New Orleans to give this announcement.
“When I graduated from college in computer science in the 1970’s, affirmative action was in place, and it was not desirable to interview a ‘white male’. “
In 1968 I was labeled ‘over-qualified’!
“My opinion is that blacks have refused to take opportunities from affirmative action and remain in poverty.”
And the Democrats have made sure that despite all the promises they make to blacks they keep them in poverty and dependent on the government for their welfare.
'Edwards: Hold the line on mitigation measures'
Dr. Corey Hébert, a physician who teaches at LSU and Tulane, and is medical director for Dillard, addressed the issue of disproportionate percentage of African Americans who have died of COVID.There are many longstanding societal and systemic reasons for that disturbing figure, Hébert said. Poor people are going to be disproportionately affected by any health issue like this, but studies show that African Americans also face challenges related to race in addition to those related to poverty, he said.
Democrats are going to do nothing and keep their heads down. It is the only thing they can do at this point it is what they do best ignore, deny, investigate, blame move on.
60% of NO is black. 80% of Detroit is black. Are blacks really being affected that disproportionately? In NYC 28% of the deaths are black and they comprise 22% of the population. Hispanics are 29% of the population and suffered 34% of the deaths. Whites are 32% of the city and had 27% of the deaths. Asians are 14% of the population and had 7% of the deaths.
Isn’t he just trying to dodge the New Orleans Mardi Gras epidemic?
And yet another one(How many does that make today). Its seems that no one here understands that this is about getting back the African American votes that have turned to republicans. The democrats have always been about stirring up race hate and then playing the heroes. Only WE care about YOU.
Race Card means that they are begging for more dollars.
Michelle Obama should be drafted as the AA food and exercise Czar of the US Her school lunch program was such at big success.
Now that they know Trump is winning the day, the Rats fall back on the tried and true, The Race Card.
Played the desperation card imho. Republicans must be about to win 89 % of statewide offices. He undoubtedly believe that Blacks are ignorant. Blacks have never been ignorant. Misguided at times but never ignorant
Was the black doctor obese, suffering from diabetes and hypertension?
Governor John Bel Edwards is a democrat. You expect him to play the race card.
I turned it on and was stunned- I was waiting for sojourner truth to lead us all to dee promised land...it was appalling- whitey gets dee good stuff and weeze all gots da bad stuff. Staggeringly bad way to bring community together if that was the purpose-
No. He was reasonable build.
Basically, Edwards is the only SIGNIFICANT Democrat to hold office in Louisiana. I imagine both the mayors of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are black. New Orleans has a black mayor...
Imagine their politics is democrat. As stated misguided though have to believe the governor considers Blacks easily manipulated .... thereby the governor believes Blacks are ignorant
This concept of blacks being over represented in the death statistics has just come out, now the race is on to see which politician can jump the highest and the quickest to proclaim just how righteous and pure he is and more so than anyone else on the glove.
We were stupid to elect him TWICE. La. and the Acadians are old school dems. They’re wishing for the good ole’ days of Edwin.
