Disney+ is developing a reboot of Doogie Howser, M.D. with the main role focusing on a 16-year-old half-Asian, half-white female.
According to Variety, the upcoming Disney+ original series takes the star to Hawaii and features a name change to Doogie Kealoha, M.D.
Kourtney Kang is listed as a writer and executive producer alongside Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar and Dayna and Jesse Bochco. 20th Century Fox will produce the Doogie Kealoha, M.D., which also produced on the original series starring Neil Patrick Harris.

If so, it could make the awkward "Doogie loses his virginity" episode that much more awkward.
I notice that TV has remade "Roswell" from the '90s as "Roswell, New Mexico" not even twenty years after the original series aired.
The only explanation I can see is that the people actually watching the show were too young to see it the first time (or not even born yet).
Let me guess, she was born in Wuhan to a European WHO Scientist Father working at the Chinese Bio Lab and a Dog Butchering Mother who was working at the Wet Market.

A 16 year old half-Asian, half black, half mexican, half robot transvestite cross dressing bi-gender identified female who is a male, but identifys as a self pollinating almond tree with a PHD in CBD products. Appeals to everyone!
I, for one, don’t mind. I appreciate the diversity of God’s creation, and think it’s great to see more non-white representation on TV.
That said, if she’s a lesbian, or her parents are LGBTQ+, I will not watch it. While I appreciate diversity, I don’t appreciate sexual perversion.
Have they selected the actress yet? It seems extremely racist to make the hiring decision based on such a narrow race definition.
I wonder when the updated western “The Riflewoman” is going to be made.
The Hawaiian scenario is there to boost the Disney resort, I’m sure. Gotta have a cross-marketing angle at Disney, always.
Thing is, in the original series, Doogie was quite hetero.
He was dating Wanda Plenn (Lisa Dean Ryan) and (at least in the show) lost his virginity to her.
Neal Patrick Harris didn’t come out as gay until several years later.
I don’t think they’re going to down that road with the new one. We’ll just have to wait and see.
