Actually from what I’m reading, people just aren’t turning on the privacy features. Run naked through the internet you’re gonna catch stuff.
Let’s Make This Simple: Zoom Is Malware - https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/lets-make-simple-zoom-malware
Shouldn’t the default configuration be max security?
Dang... My wife wanted to coordinate a zoom meeting with family in another State... Think maybe we’ll hold off on that. See how all this shakes out.
Max annoyance you mean? Security is irritating. That’s why most people turn off UAC on their Windows boxes. Especially when the point of the app is sharing. How do you share and max security? Those are mutually exclusive goals.
In the last 2 weeks, due to Covid-19, I have been invited to Zoom street party, a Zoom class reunion, and a Zoom happy hour.
Im not an old fart, but I find such social gatherings held on Zoom (or Skype, or anything similar) to be simply bizarre.
Now I have another reason to avoid them.
If ZOOM weren’t beholden to the ChiComs, maybe.
Zerohedge. Land of the malware popup, complaining somebody else is malware. Pot meet kettle.
Meanwhile just turn on the damned security and stop bitching already:

I wouldn't know anything about that. I use Brave browser.
Apparently.
Whatever happened to the Apple "it just works"?
Awww aren’t you cute as you self congratulate and completely ignore the facts.
Best case: Zoom is spyware. Worst case: Zoom is malware.
Then, blend/marry it with Facebook for some real fun.
It’s easy to “just work” when you control the hardware and the software. Also they lied a bit. Even Apple crapped the bed sometimes.

they’re responsive. zoom has pushed out three updates over the past week to deal with their issues. can’t be beat for end user freindliness. MS Teams tries to pull in the rest of O365 whether you want to or not. gotomeeting’s licensing bureaucracy is almost as suicide inducing as microsoft.
if you’re looking for a lightweight, easy to light up videoconferencing tool (as opposed to a full blown collaberation tool), zoom is a perfectly adequate solution. the phone apps are also solid.
apparently, everybody is afraid of everything these days, including their VC app.
Most likely from China?
