This former mailman was a songwriting genius. I suppose he might have been an acquired taste. One of my favorites was “Angel from Montgomery” in which he opines “how the he&& can a person go to work in the morning, to come home in the evening and have nothing to say?”. I’ve rolled that query through my feeble brain many’s a time when dining out and seeing couples who have nothing to say to each other. Maybe they’re just burned out, cheesed off, or not intelligent enough to string together two words of convo. Whatever, brings this song to memory. His phrasing was phenomenal.
