Writing the request isn’t an issue IMO.But releasing it to the press is,IMO,a court martial offense.I haven’t seen confirmation of who was responsible for that release (leak) but if the Captain was fired that suggests to me that it was him.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

The Captain should never have let that letter venture anyplace out of the chain of command. That constitutes a leak of classified operational readiness details.

But you can remove someone from command without having to fly to their ship and deliver a profanity-laced diatribe over the intercom.

Time for a wholesale purge of the Armed Forces. Too many “perfumed princes” promoted under Obama’s reign.

“Acting Navy Secretary”

“Acting” ?

Why couldn’t Trump get him confirmed with a Republican Senate?

Modly should resign. To insult Crozier like that, over the intercom no less, was very unprofessional and demoralizing to the troops. You don’t win trust by publicly attacking a ship’s former CO, who was obviously much respected by his men, judging from the number who chanted his name as he disembarked.

Capt. Crozier set into motion a chain of events that can only be described as a cluster f***. He was an idiot. He copied his letter to more than 20 people over unsecured channels. He revealed the lack of battle readiness of one of our most important weapons. China no doubt heard about this before any of us.

Despite all this, Crozier was treated with restraint. He still serves. He wasn't busted in rank. He still has his retirement. But now we are still suffering collateral damage. I hate to say this, but President Trump should not have gotten involved, at least no publicly.

If the military is like academics, and many professions (including medicine), those who wind up in charge or with ‘stature’ are often not the most talented, but are the most self-promoting and the most willing to screw others to gain position.

Gentlemen: Go back to your corners.

Captain, go back to your ship when you recover from the virus.

Modley, return to your office and sulk for a while.

That is all.

I’ve heard (from inside sources) the layers between Crozier and Modly were also “hotheads, overly political”, or questionable leaders themselves. Explains a lot.

Still Modly should never be addressing the crew.......nor flying 8000 miles to do so.

Stupid
