Regarding Pell, yes, God does know but He has imbued us with reason so we can know the truth.
According to the Crown, in the space of six minutes, Cardinal Pell left the line of those following the Cross out of the front door, this was observed by no one at a huge Sunday Mass, he then went into the sacristy, found two choristers drinking altar wine, removed all his Mass vestments (a multi-step process), abused both boys and magically reappeared on the front steps with all his vestments on to greet those leaving the Mass.
Immediately after Mass the sacristy is a very crowded place, the chalice and other items are brought back from the altar, the processional crucifix is brought there, other priests come in to unvest and hang up their Mass attire. This sacristy has several open points of entry and unencumbered sight lines.
If a high ranking prelate left a recessional before it ended, you can bet the farm on the fact that the MC or his secretary would immediately follow him to check on his well being. In public he is always accompanied by someone, usually his secretary.
For years the Victoria police begged someone , anyone to make an accusation and were angry and frustrated when no one could be found. Finally a guy comes forward and tells this story, he gets many facts wrong including the color of the altar wine and the fact that he and his friend were at a special rehearsal held that day immediately after Mass. None of their fellow choristers saw them leave the line at any time. This accuser is a druggie, the other guy, now deceased, denied that anything ever happened. Pell was convicted on the word of one guy with no witnesses.
Finally, the Australian left hates Pell because he is actually Catholic, does not condone sodomy, etc. Their hatred is, perhaps, deeper than yours. They have been vile to him for many years.
I hope Pell has found justice. Why did the jury convict him? What did they base the verdict on if all they had was hearsay from one person?

Regarding Pell: I seem to remember that he was overseeing the Vatican Bank and was going to do an audit. It was at that point they manufactured some evidence against him. Since then, there have been several scandals involving the Vatican Bank. I think the latest was money laundering?? I could be mis-remembering, but it was something illegal.
