Karl is also the head of the WHCA, which is the little clique they formed to “run” the pressroom, which is WH property under the control of the President. First thing he could do is change that, maybe let them offer suggestions but no more WHCA-decides-anything. After the nasty note and kicking the OANN gal out, they can suck it. They complain that Trump is trying to exclude media he doesn’t like while at the very same time trying to exclude media THEY don’t like. I’d blow that thing up right now.
I would like to see someone from the WH pull an old teacher on Karl: "Jonathan... do you and Dr. Fauci have something you'd like to share with the rest of the class? We would all like to hear it. No? Well, then maybe you'd like to show us all how to do your secret handshake."
Maybe Trump’s new press sec will straighten this out.
If Trump is allowing something to happen, there's a reason. I can only speculate, but two things come to mind.
They won't pass up a WH briefing, and if Trump excluded some of them, they'd have an excuse not to show it.
The press is being excoriated by most people who are seeing the briefings. They are revealing themselves. That Chinese plant yesterday, the cute girl that had been fed the lines, got exposed. She was classic Chinese playbook. Get a petite, cute girl that isn't vaguely threatening to spout the propaganda. Trump called on her, then said, "that sounds more like a statement than a question, who are you with?" Trump already knew. He got her fumbling around, claiming Phoenix News was independent. Everyone found out who she was. Everyone knew who invited her.
