Genetics not as well adapted to the European diet brought over by early settlers, and perhaps a extra melanin vs. too much life indoors all of us darker skin individuals deal with in the form of a vitamin D deficiency.

Thank you for responding, cal. I truly mean that. Although I find your argument supporting the continued lockdown of our country limited in its singlular focus (i.e., it considers only the health impacts of the Chinese virus and dismisses all other impacts as not worthy of consideration at this time), please understand that my intent is not to convince or even persuade; rather, my intention is to clarify our positions which we have done and to encourage people in this forum to consider contrary perspectives to develop their own (and I find there is an element of entertainment from "spirited debate" which may provide some with a desperately needed diversion during this period of enforced isolation.)

As an aside, I am pleased that you characterize my thinking as "stunning" although, being a reasonably smart guy (perhaps better a "wise guy") I'm pretty sure you didn't mean it as a compliment, and I understand why. You still think that this Chinese virus has the potential of "killing millions [of Americans]". If I still believed the predictions of those outdated, "oh-so-early March" models I should very well, as do you, dismiss any contrary opinion no matter how well-constructed as "stupid" and -- here's a fresh application of an old condemnation for you -- "irresponsible". Cheers! & regards.

You have been called out numerous times and ignored it. You also have a tendency to conflate other people’s arguments when you cannot refute them.

LOL!!! References? Links?

We all contribute to FR as best we can. Thanks for your efforts!

Whirl some whole almonds in the food processor. They won’t be as powdery but do just fine for baking.

Fury, Sheep Whisper, Semantic, ... See a possible connection? Either NGO, Gov, or financial market manipulators, etc.

Don't get me wrong, there are many honest flubros, but then there are others who seek to influence public opinion for their own agenda, be it for political or financial gain. Some, too clever by half, expose themselves through the names they use - hoisted by there own egos...

They said the ship wasn’t equipped for CV. Guessing that has to do with the air circulation like on cruise ships.

A “case of Covid” does not mean sick from it.

That’s what they said.

All that’s changed, now.

“I’m done talking with you, troll.”

I agree, she’s now just trying to gum up our thread. Just prior to this post, I went into my full ‘anti-troll’ mode, where I not only ignore the troll’s postings, but also responses to them (nothing personal though!).

I can get through these threads much quicker that way!

I consider it to be good news that those “flu bros” might get it, survive and be rendered infertile. Wouldn’t bother me one bit. They could give a crap about my well being so screw them.
My kids however are far smarter than the twit trolls and I hope they’ll not get it, not be rendered infertile and produce offspring that’ll be good contributions to society.
The flu bro’s can KMA.

“And you are ignoring the many deaths of 30 or 40 year old “old people”. Your callous disregard for human life is not a conservative value.”

Neither is his never-ending support for labor unions - which, by the way, indirectly led to this nightmare by driving manufacturing out of this country.

I tried to turn over a new leaf the other day, and I am still trying despite this, to not really try and engage people that I’m not in agreement with, because I realize that we are all in trying times right now.

But this particular person is just as obnoxious as all Hell, and as ignorant as anyone I have ever seen in my life.

Yep, we figured this would happen and so it has. Didn’t take long.

Social distancing only postpones infections. It does not prevent them in the least. Postponing infections is good because that spreads them out over time and reduces the load on the medical system at any given point in time.

“It is overkill, I know. We have a lot of high risk here and are hoping to hold out until there is more understanding and treatment.”

It isn’t overkill, nor is the raincoat you wear. On the Chris Martinson videos he talked about how it was like treating a firearm. Always loaded, never point it in a bad direction, etc. And not just sometimes, but ALL THE TIME because the consequences of getting shot are so dire.

BTW - the freezer doesn’t destroy the virus, but actually preserves it, so those packages need to get cleaned as well.

How can we assess the total number of #SARSCoV2 infections that have occurred up to this point? As others have noted, it’s not easy to extrapolate from confirmed cases to total infections.

Oh good! I thought when you said it goes right into the freezer you didn’t decontaminate it. Early on some folks were doing that thinking the freezing killed the virus.

Back when the kids were young they would get lice from friends or at camp. What a pain. But at least you could put their stuff in the freezer for 24(?) hours and kill them and their eggs. I do that with stuff I buy from the thrift store still.
