Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, postal workers have been on the front lines, considered "essential workers" who must continue to do their jobs as usual while others stay home. But some lawmakers are warning that without more support, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) could completely shut down in the next few months, threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

I use UPS or FedEx anymore if it’s important. If I can I’ll scan and E-Mail or Fax it.

The last time I sent something important (a HDD) First Class from Texas to NC and the usps lost it.

However the next day I sent a box of plain old rocks to Siberia, Third Class via the usps and it was there the next day.

(having problems cutting & pasting with this laptop)

I had the same problem until I used one of the laptops USB ports to add a wireless mouse for that purpose and other uses. Glad I did.

The USPS is the most worthless, ooze-emitting, foul organization since the Canola Oil Brothers.

Yep, they didn’t get it after Natzi slid it into her bill. More RAT infested entities are going to shovel out more misery.

Except for intake and delivery, you’d be surprised how much is handled by private business. FedEx has a BIG part in transporting mail - especially long distances. Lucrative contract.

AND - in more rural areas, independent contractors are the carriers. Small percentage on that one, but it is already being done.

I have four vehicles (well, three vehicles and a car trailer) that have tabs due at the same time. I got an uneasy feeling about this lockdown and so I renewed early.

Glad I did.

Maloney and Connelly proposed a bill that would provide a $25 billion in emergency funding for the postal service, eliminating its debt with the stipulation that it would prioritize medical deliveries during the crisis. They said the funding would save the jobs of more than 600,000 Americans.

Should have thought of them while you were looting the taxpayer for your other boondogle crap!

I think I’ve gotten one piece of junk mail since the Wu Flu Panic hit hard. That has got to be blowing a huge hole in the PO budget.

That seems surprising. My Mom’s “mail order” catalogs have increased in number, if anything. Solicitations for donations sure have not dropped.

I was getting those but everything dried up last week. Pretty amazing to get almost no mail day after day.

I actually had someone say, “Never open envelopes that weren’t stick and seal, you might get the virus.”

No. I’m not going to get the Chinese coronavirus from a licked letter.
