And no dog comes close to the ability of a bear.

I read once that a plane followed a polar bear 40 miles to see why it was running.

Turns out a female bear in heat.

I’ll put a Labrador Retriever right up there.

But, I’m biased.

And they're as loyal and defending as the best of them, I can testify. Anyone who never owned a Scheisshund but are thinking of getting a dog (or getting an addition to the current dogpile) should read up on them and decide if one would fit into their lives. Wonderful breed. Need attention and best kept indoors when they're an adult and you're not at home. Trust me. They eat a lot of shoes when they're left to their own devices. *chuckle* We had three (a male, his sister, and a step-sister), and the male would eat the backs out of my wife's shoes or take one outside and hide it as a way (in his doggy logic) to keep her from leaving the house so we'd stay home with them. Shoes go on feet, feet take human out the door to work, so no shoes, feet keep human at home. Amazing how they suss that out on their own. (And people say dogs are stupid. I beg to differ.) I learned his trick early on and kept all my shoes on a shoe tree in the bedroom closet. LOL
